Survivor of CSA, organised abuse and the justice system. Yogi from way back and getting into boxing for trauma. I’m also a mother of 3 boys & a psych nerd! 🤓
Are there problems with IFS in the treatments of dissociative disorders? Yes. Have the Cut/New York Magazine likely given a perpetrator of family based organised sexual abuse a platform to get ahead of the narrative? Also yes. Disappointing article for those trying to fight against CSA.
A growing number of psychiatrists and psychologists are emerging with urgent warnings about a therapy known as Internal Family Systems, casting it as a simplistic allegory, and, at the worst, a dangerous pseudoscience.
The Truth About IFS, the Therapy That Can Break You
Internal Family Systems is a widely popular trauma treatment. Some patients say it’s destroyed their lives.

Great article by Sonia Orchard

“Imagine a parallel in the medical world: a mainstream drug has less than a 1 per cent success rate treating a disease that one in three people will fall victim to. The side effects of the drug are often more debilitating than 1/3

For three years, I tried to navigate a system where sex crimes have been effectively decriminalised
A new report found “the justice system is failing to meet the twin goals of access to justice and accountability”. So where are the groundbreaking reforms?

There is more to come. The High Court dealt with ONE criminal matter it did not exonerate Pell from many other cases either dealt with or pending.
Nor did it negate the findings of the Royal Commission .

‘Rape is effectively decriminalised’: how did sexual assault become so easy to get away with?
Few alleged offenders are found guilty. Many victims are retraumatised. What is getting in the way of the Australian criminal courts providing justice to sexual assault survivors?

“When a crime is easy to get away with, crime rates remain high. Yes, blame always sits with the perpetrator. But with sex crimes, blame also sits with Australia’s legal system, which protects perpetrators, and fails and further traumatises victims.” #Auspol

Sexual assault survivors like me seek justice as a sign of strength. Few of us end up winning
Victims don’t report because the legal system is stacked against them. It protects perpetrators and further traumatises victims

“We have a broken criminal justice system, we have a stretched police system” Jake Richards Labour MP. Most perpetrators of sexual violence never experience any consequences and victim/survivors have to live with this knowledge despite their attempts to prevent others suffering the harms they have.
Labour's Jake Richards MP tells Adam Fleming that grooming cases in his constituency could be reopened following yesterday's government announcement.
