Accidentally used the term "normies" on a teams call with a coworker this week. But I think she understood the term lol.

So not sure how much he actually "worked" in that factory, in the end, but it kept him from maybe being killed, so that's good.

It's mentioned in Game Over. His grandmother, Tei, didn't want him joining the military and then kept him in school so he couldn't be conscripted. So then he was given the military factory job, where he bribed his supervisor with extra rice from his grandmother's pantry so he wouldn't have to work.

A Zelda II: Adventure of Link feature in the Japanese Family Computer Magazine featured 51 tips, with one of them being fake as a challenge to readers. The fake trick claimed that drinking from a fountain 5 times would turn it into Mario, and that he must be destroyed to get a 1-Up.

If you'd like to support cancer treatment at Princess Margaret, donate $20 or more via this page, and include a note about your request in the "Private message" field (but she reserves the right to approve your request first lol) : supportthepmcf.ca/ui/Journey26...

My mom had her cancer treatment at Princess Margaret. As of this January, she's been cancer free for 20 years. So I always like to support them.

My friend Kefalograviera is fundraising for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation with MS Paint fanart of your favourite characters if you donate $20.00 or more to the campaign.

I asked her to draw me Kylo Ren, so she drew Kylo with a little wren (with it's own lightsaber lol)

Ludwig II of Bavaria is in my top ten of people born in the wrong century.

Some randos online: they're doing shots for the zelda movie at Neuschwanstein Castle.

Drunk me with a history degree: dude Ludwig II of Bavaria would have loved playing Zelda

There was like one evening a few years ago where he thought he had a chance to run for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and I wanted to see him try just to hear if his French was good or hilarious.

I haven't got into Bridgerton, but it sounds like they have a lot of fun with the history at least.

Like I know people who rented in the city but owned a cottage somewhere. Some people still do that (but not recently because that shit is overpriced right now thanks to housing speculation).
February 2, 2026 at 12:54 AM
I guess you could use the term "summer house" how we use the word "cottage".

But if you used "summer house" in Toronto to describe a cottage, we'd think you were extra fancy. Cause I knew a lotta normie middle class people growing up who had family cottages (I did not and do not tho lol)
February 2, 2026 at 12:53 AM
you know, I've thought it was similar when reading about dachas before. cause if you think of both as "summer houses outside of the city" then yeah.

It's weird because I've got a history degree and do a lot of royal history reading, so I was used to that sort of language when referencing "smaller" homes on large estates being referred to as cottages. Queen Elizabeth II's grandfather, George V, loved York Cottage: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/York_Co...
