“Put simply,” Kollar-Kotelly wrote, “our Constitution does not allow the President to impose unilateral changes to federal election procedures.”

A sworn FBI tip alleges Donald Donald Trump threatened to “disappear” a girl and have her family killed—testimony given under penalty of perjury, not a tweet. Democracy demands scrutiny of power; silence protects predators. Law, not intimidation, must rule. #EpsteinFiles #AccountabilityNow
Witness told FBI Trump threatened to ‘disappear’ girl and have her ‘whole family killed’
Under penalty of perjury, a witness told the FBI back in 2016 that they had “personally witnessed” President Donald Trump threaten to “disappear” a girl and have her entire family killed, according to...

European powers and the United States could have stopped russian terrorists from causing a blackout in Ukraine very easily. They chose not to.

It’s -12 C in Kyiv now. Russians are executing a Kholodomor (genocide by freezing cold) and the West is their accomplice.

It's no surprise why the US is "backsliding" fast: Putin is desperate in Ukraine and needs help.

Trump's problem is, he picked a tough speed. It works to go slower and gradually erode rights, as in Orban's Hungary. Or faster, to dominate and cause terror, as in Hitler's Germany. In between is hard.
New from me: It is not just that the US is experiencing democratic backsliding. Authoritarianism has emerged more quickly than in other benchmark countries.

This graph from John Burn-Murdoch sums it up. 🧵

Tom Homan is lying again. He insinuates that stopping undocumented people at the border is saving American lives from #fentanyl overdoses.
Dishonest. Nearly all fentanyl is smuggled by U.S. citizens, as I explained @newrepublic.com. @dceiver.bsky.social newrepublic.com/article/1786...
How the Media Falls for the Right’s Fentanyl Lies
The migrants being demonized for the drugs coming over the border aren’t responsible for the crisis, but you’d never know that from the news.

At the most fundamental level, the Trump admin is still treating peaceful protesters as the aggressors and the heavily armed government militias as the victims, even though Homan, Miller, Noem, Trump have spent months torquing them into a frenzy of hate and telling them they can act with impunity.
Homan: "I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March -- if the rhetoric doesn't stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die."

This is the escalation cycle I've been talking about for months, one Homan can't pretend DHS is not part of.

DHS adopts aggressive tactics and arrest quotas, the community responds angrily, agents mask up and DHS deploys more, the response gets bigger/angrier, agents get more aggressive, etc...
CNN: How did we get to a place where we had Bovino having Border Patrol agents stopping citizens in interior of the country, asking them ID, creating fear? Who made the decisions to allow this kind of operation to proceed?

HOMAN: The reason for the massive deployment is bc of the threats & violence

"In theater" is a nice touch for describing Minneapolis. Worth noting the people involved, from Trump to Miller to Noem to Homan to Bovino to the majority of ICE and CBP goons, have never served in the military. They're playing out a war fantasy, dressing up in army costumes, like incredible losers.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

@senatedemocrats.bsky.social @senategop.govpeeps.us @houserepublicans.bsky.social @housedemocrats.bsky.social ICE is acting like mercenaries. No more funding for ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish DHS. Border Patrol at borders. States can handle deportation like they did under Obama, Biden & previous admins
Any lingering hope that Homan was in any way a better front for all this has predictably evaporated.

There is only one responsible, starting position now: abolish ICE.

Until then, a plague on all their houses.
