Battery electric refuse vehicles and community transport minibuses! Great to see @islington-council.bsky.social ditching diesel and leading a rollout of cleaner, quieter EVs in their fleet 👏👏👏 #ElectrifyLondon

⚡ It’s time to Electrify London ⚡

On 7 May 2026, 1800+ borough councillors will be elected, responsible for 95% of London’s roads & kerbsides. We’re launching Electrify London to push them to be bolder on the transition to cleaner, greener electric vehicles.

It's remarkable Westminster Council doesnt charge for car parking in the West End after 18:30... coupled with free congestion charge from TfL and no wonder there's a wild west of traffic in the evenings 😬. More and more SUVs don't help either... #carspreading

Great to see new powers for councils to end the blight of pavement parking in England. This announcement couldn’t have come soon enough given cars are getting heavier and wider every year making pavement parking even more untenable and dangerous. #carspreading

Cargo bikes are often a quick, cheap and far cleaner alternative to polluting vans in cities. And the best thing? They're always ready to lend Santa a hand! #cargorevolution

Visit London's West End on a weeknight and get easily reminded of the great giveaway - FREE car parking from @citywestminster.bsky.social and FREE congestion charge from @london.gov.uk. A great giveaway of public space for status symbols. Worth remembering as tube fares increase again next spring...

Cant imagine anyone accepts that trees should be used as EV charging gantries 😱. A sad encroachment of car culture on nature, partly down to price (domestic vs public) but also local plans/comms. We need charging masterplans that map out options for residents today and in the future #ElectrifyLondon

We’ve been urging the government to commit to stronger targets for years, so we're pleased that the government has finally listened.

The devil is in the detail. #AirPollution is largely below these levels already across the country and is still making hundreds of thousands of people sick.

I wonder what is in the DfT's assessment of the causes 👀 Feels like another reason to do something about the troubling and dangerous increase in car bonnet height. Chances are big SUVs won't be mentioned at all #elephantintheroom #carspreading www.bbc.com/news/article...

Hats off to @deathcardiff.bsky.social & Cardiff cllrs for their new parking policy to charge more for the heaviest SUVs 👏

Important: two-thirds (66%) of respondents to the related consultation agreed larger vehicles should pay more.

I was told of a complaint by a resident that 2.1m width restrictions are too narrow for their car! Unsurprising given new cars are getting 1cm wider every 2 years - the Volvo XC90 is 2.14m wide 🤯

Surely this age old infrastructure is needed now more than ever to end #carspreading in our cities? 🙏

I remember being told that it would take 193 years to reach legal limits for nitrogen dioxide.

I decided this was unacceptable.

Thanks to the bold policies we put in place, we've managed to do it in nine years - 184 years earlier than expected.
