Trump ran on tariffs and mass deportation. That was his policy package. It was reiterated at every rally and in the campaign ads. There’s no reason to assume that people who voted for him would not want either of those things.
There is truth, of course, to the fact that people get the policy regime of the president they voted for. But that’s not the same as voting for the policy package itself.
