The president and all his rancid enablers really demand the creation of a new word that means “shocked but not shocked, but still shocked, but also totally NOT shocked, yet somehow still shocked, also always appalled, forever and eternally appalled by the endless abhorrence, and now I scream.”

"I was told you're a monster," the hero said.

"So they say," said the monster.

"But you're beautiful!"

"Thank you."

"Have you always been a monster?"

"Heh. I was a young maiden. But I did something forbidden."

"And became a monster?"

"Got named a monster."

"What did you do?"

"I hit back."

"The Dark Lord has taken over our land. What do we do?"

"Learn from the goblins."

"What? Those useless little-"

"Takes skill to mask rebellion as incompetence."

"What?"

"They know His reign will end. For now, they persist and resist."

"Oh."

"Also: remember every moment of joy is a victory."

tell you what need to be done to make it stop....hm....

vote, vote out the Republicans, it ends when they don't have the power to hurt people any more, Democrats are telling you "we will end it if you let us" so give them the power to end it.
I really need Democratic lawmakers to understand that we're fed up with them simply posting on social media "this has to stop" without calling for specific actions to make it stop.

We know this needs to stop. We elected you. Tell us what needs to be done to make it stop.

I remember protesters during a land dispute literally pointing rifles at federal agents. And being found innocent.

"My husband complains about the cold," the man said. "Can you teach me a spell to keep him warm?"

"I can teach you to bind hair into a net to catch heat," the wizard said, "using arcane counting and a pair of fine wands."

After a while, the man said "Isn't this knitting?"

"This, too, it's magic."

Foreign subreddits being flooded with apologetic Americans saying "Well, I didn't vote for him."

Buddy, doesn't matter who voted for Putin, we still have to treat Russia as a whole like an enemy until he's gone.

And unfortunately, America's now a big ol' threat.

I’m glad my kiddo hates LLM, otherwise they would be the prime target for this, “I have so many ideas for stories, but I always stop because writing is hard.”
Creativity is wonderful, but the idea of “being creative” is highly romanticized and largely unreasonable. A lot of the work around a creative effort is still just work, of the kind that has been done many times before.

I think this difference has been a real enabler for LLM slop.

And this is why I won’t be supporting Newsom anywhere in primaries. I’ve seen this too much, but he is most definitely a greater of lesser evils.
in case you didn't understand why transphobic rhetoric worried us so much about this guy, well it's because it's a signal that shit like this is coming next.

Well at least my response was not “oh this is normal behavior” it was “Well shiiiiiiiit, I owe that therapist an apology when she once asked if I thought I might autistic.“
There is a new autistic barbie out, but no one is talking about her mother, undiagnosed computer engineer barbie about to get the surprise of her life when she starts to argue with the evaluator that these are all normal childhood behaviours that she had when she was the same age.

A villain is not a boss fight. A villain is not a costume. A villain is not a motivation sentence pasted like a post-it note on a laptop.

A villain is a system.

And systems only make sense when you understand how they behave over time.

I’m less surprised seeing what the games are. 3 of the games have a strong under 18 following - Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft. The other two are COD and GTA V. Both of which have so much inertia and maintain player bases.

No surprise it is hard to dethrone them.

Knarr is a fun quick game, Nova Rome was a fun long crunchy game with three key paths and a few supplemental point paths.

Got two new 2-player games played today. Duel was a good 7 Wonders feeling variant.

Fox in the Forest was an easy to learn hard to win game. I enjoy the amount if strategy involved.

Something I wish we were currently better at grasping is that sometimes bad characters will do bad things. Not every villain has to be a rapist who eats baked babies, but they will be racists, bigots, assholes, and violent bastards you want to see lose. That doesn't mean I, the author, agree.

AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone

- tech is now more expensive
- you cannot trust most media of reality anymore
- programs barely function
- energy prices
- literal psychosis
- your voice can be literally stolen for evil
- more spyware

but hey, you can avoid paying an artist.
