Excavation trenches are open, volunteers have arrived, soil is being sieved, and school visits have begun at Castilly Henge #Cornwall.

We are excited to be collaborating with @Heritage_Trust & @cornwallarch.bsky.social at this fascinating site.

A great day out and around Bodmin yesterday with the @landscapesurvey.bsky.social group. An extremely dynamic landscape with historic china clay extraction still drastically modifying the landscape today.

@timhannigan.bsky.social just led a group of landscape archaeologists from the car park to Hensbarrow Beacon. Asked them to work out where natural topography ends and spoil heap begins.

@timhannigan.bsky.social Just starting Granite Kingdom. Loving it. Grew up in NW Devon with family in N Cornwall. I’m an archaeologist currently working on Hensbarrow Beacon & on barrows near Hartland. Really liked your writing on Clay Country & on the ambiguity of Cornwall/Devon north of Lanson
