Help, I keep buying more books before I finish reading the books I already have! Also, I tend to read multiple books at a time because I need “brain candy” too while I read heavy nonfiction. This is out of control. #booksky

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind.

An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one."

The other said, "Take him anyway."

So they did.

"We have a massive sprawling low-wage service sector. You could make that into the middle class if you really wanted to, but I don’t think we want to. I think we prefer to lament about the lost past, but it cost a lot to destroy the future."
This is fascinating: On the pod, @kedseconomist.com cites the example of a US manufacturer of board games to explain what's wrong with Trump's tariffs and why unleashing so much pain and turmoil to restore manufacturing is an incoherent goal.

Most people confuse intimacy with sex, but real intimacy is being fully seen and accepted. It takes honesty, emotional risk, and time. It’s not always easy or constant.

Intimacy deepens through vulnerability, not comfort. Many crave it, but fear what it truly demands.
