He was a man whose voice could capture defiance and compassion, struggle and beauty, who could make hardship sound not just survivable but worth surviving. He gave hope to so many, especially those who needed it the most. Rest in peace.

Covid-19 vaccines, credited with saving millions of lives during the pandemic, set off a powerful alarm that rallies the human immune system against cancer and nearly doubles the median survival length of patients, according to a new retrospective study.

The most important human story in the entertainment industry right now is the severe downturn in film and TV production in LA and how it's affecting middle-class crew workers. I spoke to dozens of them for this story about the depressed Hollywood economy. www.wsj.com/business/med...
L.A.’s Entertainment Economy Is Looking Like a Disaster Movie
Work is evaporating, businesses are closing, longtime residents are leaving, and Los Angeles’s creative middle class is hanging on by a thread.

Coming soon to an American city near you.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

Calvin and Hobbes referenced for the first time ever in a Supreme Court dissenting opinion. Let’s hit up Bill Watterson for comment. He will not respond.
May this portion of the dissent by Ketanji Brown Jackson haunt John Roberts forever and be the final word on his tenure as Chief Justice.

The final cut in this video, from an officer’s hand poised on his weapon to the White House logo animation, would be considered too on-the-nose in a Paul Verhoeven film.
The White House posted an insane video of the police arresting the sandwich guy in a safe and wealthy neighborhood.

Just so we’re keeping score & everyone understands where we are now: you live in a country where there are two tiers of citizenship, the government is sending people to concentration camps, the president sets the policies of elite universities, & there are security checkpoints in the capital city.
Police have set up a checkpoint and appear to be stopping every single car on 14th st NW, between W+V, here in northwest DC. Some cars are being pulled over after being stopped.

Some police are wearing “HSI police” vests (Homeland Security Investigations)

Back in 2001, you didn’t need a crystal ball to see where the war on terror would lead: to a moment when US troops patrol American streets and aim their weapons at US civilians.
NEW: L.A. and D.C. are only the beginning, as Trump's team has been drawing up plans to unleash federal forces in other Democratic strongholds.

The targeted killing of Anas al-Sharif and five other journalists on Sunday means at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October 2023.

No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed.
