Caltrans' messaging of its bike/ped work continues to border on mendacious.

This *Caltrans* press release says that they are spending $97M on a pedestrian overcrossing in SF.

That would be an insane price!

But in reality, the $97M is for a ped over-xing *and* 7.5 miles of I-280 pavement rehab!

Back in 2023 we helped pass AB 835, a single stair reform study bill. That study is almost done, and we need your help to make sure the final report is grounded in sound evidence by emailing a public comment. It’ll only take a minute, and it makes a real difference!
Tell the State Fire Marshal: Legalize Single-Stair Buildings in California!

SESworkgroup@fire.ca.gov is the email address where CALFIRE is collecting comments for the single-exit work group. If you live in California and feel any type of way about the issue, send an email! Whatever level of sophistication you can muster would be appreciated. Fine to send a quick/simple one.

Parking section of the CA Forever Specific Plan is interesting...No parking maximums for housing and plans for parking garages to be within a 1/2 mile or less of every home, with upwards of 114k parking spaces planned across at least 54 parking garages. Not really incentivizing transit use here...

Rare new construction condos listed for sale in Oakland. I wonder what led the developer to list as condos instead of rentals… My guess is that the risk from condo defect laws was outweighed by low rental prices.

🚨🚨🚨⬇️⬇️⬇️ Tell Newsom to sign SB79, to allow housing along transit.

Literally took me 10 seconds.

If you don't like telephones, you can leave a digital comment in the link below.

Active Bill -> SB79 -> Please sign SB79.

Reminder that @governor.ca.gov is reportedly considering vetoing SB79, the best housing bill to clear the CA legislature in decades.

It would be a *disaster*, substantively & for Newsom's political future. Really hope he doesn't self-immolate.

Tell him!

We are not out of the woods on SB 79.

Los Angeles NIMBYs have lost their minds over the prospect of more homes being built near taxpayer-funded transit stations.

Sadly, the Governor might be listening to them.
