SAFE-LD: A novel method for the estimation of linkage disequilibrium from summary statistics
Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have greatly advanced our understanding of the genetic architecture of complex traits. Downstream analyses of GWAS summary statistics require accurate in-sample ...

Extremely cool paper from @rjhfmstr.bsky.social @zkutalik.bsky.social and team. I still need to get my head around how the same genetic variant has opposite effects depending if it’s maternally or paternally inherited and why.
🚨 Our parent-of-origin study is out in Nature! 🧬
Maternal and paternal alleles can have distinct — even opposite — effects on human traits, revealing a hidden layer of genetic architecture that standard GWAS miss.

I have no affiliation with this summer school, but it’s really taught by some of the best, and it’s free!! Fair warning, it’s highly competitive & merit based (I was rejected way back when 🤣). Postdocs and PhD in stat gen should absolutely apply! lpshg.com

This is the wisest post in a bonkers thread about Base R vs tidyverse. No matter what stats program or flavor you want me to write in, I will produce inefficient code. You will not fix me by converting me to your standard, I will only make your standard look bad.
Man this is some major BS. People write shitty code in every vernacular. I have seen more than my fair share in data.table and base, and Python, and everything else. The notion that there is more of it among tidyverse users is absurd.

Can’t you just like a tool without hating on others?
