Did you know stingrays have a face and legs? Uncanny, creepy or cute?

I rage-quit my most recent online haunt (a web forum) the other day and thought i’d pop in on this account instead.

Dammit, when did I follow all these US politics accounts? Or did they all just turn into politics?

I just want to talk about silly everyday things. Where does one do that nowadays?

The placement on the store shelves can’t have been accidental.

FYI (if anyone is reading), I haven’t abandoned Bluesky. It’s just that I 800+ followers on my photo account and get 50 likes even on average photos (100+ on good ones), while this account has 123 followers and gets 0-1 likes on any post.

It’s simply more fun to post on the other one.

I’ve half abandoned this account because it turns out I’m not that interested in talking about politics after all.

So go check out my photos on my other account instead. Mostly nature, some curiosities, and no photos of pets (I don’t even have any). Link in my profile.

Ok so now that absurd man thinks he can put tariffs on foreign films?

How do you even do that? And in the age of VPN?

I started playing with feeds on my other account, and now I’m having too much fun looking at photos of moss to care about politics and all that.

So, no tariffs for big tech. What about all those millions of Americans who were supposed to start screwing tiny screws in iphones? Are they all fired now?

Sometimes I think about my Environmental History professor who said that anyone who doesn’t believe in climate change can leave his class and not come back.

Why is the #media playing Trump's game? Stop talking about 'negotiation'. This is economic terrorism. That's the extortionist's language. Would you use the words of a criminal to describe a court case? Stop playing his game. This is #Fascism. Act like it.

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

I was a bit down last week and didn't post the photos I had already picked out for #4Art25

Here's the one for day 4, Minimalist Magic. It was my second silver piece ever back in 2007. A bit wonky (and the photo isn't great) but I like it.

#4Art25 day 8, Gemstone spotlight.

I haven't done any settings with faceted gemstones (too fiddly), but garnet is commonly used as a gemstone and the beads in this statement ring are garnets.

2008, when I dabbled a bit in silversmithing.

It’s so obvious Trump is in real estate, not trade and manufacturing.

Nah, my Bluesky is 95% photos of sunsets, landscapes and fungi, because I spend 95% of my time on my other account, scrolling photos.

Feeds and lists are a good thing.
4am Bluesky was once about multigender thirst pics and now it's about the imminent global economic collapse and while I know that right now it really does have to be about the latter rather than the former let me tell you I liked it better when it was all about that first thing

Finally people are talking about this.

Yes, I know he doesn’t formally have the power now “except nobody is stopping him”. It shouldn’t be possible even with congress & senate backing him.
One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months.

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

I was going to use this for #4Art25 day 3, April Showers, but changed my mind and used another one.

Now it fits both #BlueSkyMonday and #AlphabetChallenge #WeekOforOodles instead.

Made in 2007. These "caterpillar" bracelets were so popular back then. Basic description of the technique in ALT text.

Remember these? We called them wrap bracelets and they were all the rage in Sweden about 10-15 years ago. I liked making them with stone beads and vintage buttons, like this one.

Funny how this (the absurd tariffs) highlights how much rich countries rely on cheap labour in poor countries and how we’ve made poor countries dependent on providing cheap labour.

When all this (trade war) is over, can we talk a bit about neocolonialism?
April 5, 2025 at 2:21 AM
All day I’ve seen Americans expressing bafflement over some vague “what’s happening”, and I’ve kept searching online for what they might be talking about.

Apparently they’re just talking about Trump. Like, what did you expect? That he’d suddenly be sensible? That *would* be baffling.

Sadly, the US isn’t even a part of the free world anymore.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney: “If the United States no longer wants to lead, Canada will.”

Sadly, America is no longer the leader of the free world.

Here’s the thing about the tariffs: there will be no “short term pain”. Only long term. Every time a company realizes they can get away with charging you extra they don’t ever lower the price again. They just gouge. Whatever price hikes there are will be here for good.

I have now had to tell several customers that sorry, the product you're looking for is out of stock until I can find a supplier within the EU.

My US wholesaler had to increase their prices b/c tariffs, so they're out. They used to be cheaper than EU wholesalers, but not anymore.
