So wack that in C++ you dereference a pointer to get a reference instead of &*-ing it. Rust once again most intuitive language

One of the huge perks of working at a software company is, when there's something about the product that bothers you personally, you can get your hands dirty and find out why it's basically impossible to get fixed

Is the best way to make a bug based fuzzing benchmark really just to go through CVEs and find every issue in the tracker and hope there's a POC 😭

I have a hot take that Result is extremely overused in places where stuff should probably just panic and often ends up obscuring the problem by bubbling up errors too high. Panicking is okay!

This matches my experience: those of us who spent the pre-LLM years building ML models + GANs see genAI in a different light.

We have a clearer view of what is/isn't possible, so we're less likely to throw it at every imaginable task expecting a breakthrough.

It hasn't happened much yet because it seems like the people making MCP slop tools are still in the phase where they tell you that's what it is but eventually we'll get to a point where software that looks normal is just incorrect sometimes unexpectedly and I don't know if we're ready for that
