@notts4europe.bsky.social what is the best way to show that we don’t want to get into trade wars.
Is a new referendum that bad?
Let’s ask ourselves again.

Petition: Hold a referendum on re-joining the European Union
I want the government to hold a referendum on whether the UK should Rejoin the European Union.

On VE Day, we remember the sacrifices that brought peace to Europe. But for millions in Ukraine, war is not history, it’s their reality. Flags in the Wind honours both past and present struggles. Watch the film and stand with Ukraine.

In a world of broken politics the greens have always stood firm and refused to accept corporate money and we admire them for that.

However this means grassroot groups need to raise money elsewhere as we well know

If you can spare them a donation it would make a massive difference to local politics
The Mansfield Green party crowdfunder is now live.

Their funding for local elections in Mansfield rely on donations as they don't accept corporate funding to stay truly independent of big business

We don't take donations from corporates because we don't want to be influenced by them All our work is funded by donations and crowdfunders

A long overdue first step. But we need more than just a Customs Union. Why should parcels have more freedom of movement than people?

"An internal DWP impact assessment that has yet to be published indicated that up to 100,000 disabled people could be pushed into absolute poverty by the measures."
NEW: The DWP consultation into plans to slash billions of pounds from disability benefits has been ruled unlawful in a damning High Court ruling.

Mr Justice Calver repeatedly described the consultation held in autumn 2023 as “misleading”, “rushed” and “unfair”

“Brexit made the UK an early victim of this reactionary politics which, instead of making this country great again, has already made it poorer and lonelier. Who knows what further damage may be awaiting our younger generations.”
The Brexit backlash – does it signal a progressive future?
Starmer fears ‘betraying Brexit’. Yet with polls showing a majority for moving closer to Europe, can the progressive majority find its voice?

Brexiters announce all new electronic devices in the UK will be charged via IEEE 1284 connectors.
It’s time for THE charger.

Today, the USB-C becomes officially the common standard for charging new mobile electronic devices in the EU.

It means better-charging technology, reduced e-waste, and less fuss to find the chargers you need!

The Mansfield green party are at the New Houghton community hub with a recycled bottle lights stall.

Lots of other stalls here until 3pm why not pop down and say hi and make them an offer on bottle lights.

Here's Emma Dabiri making exactly this point. The Tory pattern is "cuts creating problems" then "division to mask problems". It is relevant, because it is STILL their strategy. But god forbid a guest links two subjects with a theme. The interruptions from FB took longer than the point. ~AA #BBCQT

Starmer makes a point often missed about ending freedom of movement.

Migration figures were lower when we were in the EU. Because Europeans could live, work, study in the UK for as long as they wanted - and then leave. Now, migrants are more likely to move permanently.

Meanwhile over in “the other place” a Reform party MP is actually threatening to shut down the BBC - a public service broadcaster - because a political satire show made fun of party leader NigelFarage

We can never allow this dangerous bunch anywhere near power

We’ve just had another granddaughter.

A baby of 2024.

She’ll probably still be alive in the 22nd century…

🙏🏼

How nice it would be to see an end to the misery and destruction.

I strive to be part of a friendly and
peaceful planet.

It can be done…

🇪🇺

Let’s rejoin the EU!

Let’s do that…

I hope that whatever comes next brings stability and peace to the region.
Momentous events in Syria this morning. The 54 year rule of the Assad family appears to be over, with rebel forces taking to state TV claiming President Assad has fled Damascus.

The prime minister has said he will hand over power to the opposition and has called for elections.

Seems that putting up trade barriers with our huge neighbouring trade bloc does not in fact make trade ‘free’, give us control or reduce red tape…
Seems it just means endless cost, hassle, form-filling, loss of competitiveness and ball-ache. For nothing.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says the public want to leave the ECHR

Let him know he’s wrong by sharing this widely
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says

“We need to leave the ECHR so we can deport people that come illegally & take back control of our borders & that’s what the public wants”

Share if you disagree with his populist boll**** the UK should join Russia & Belarus outside the ECHR
