Extremely proud of Dr Janis Transfeld, who defended her PhD. Janis' project was a heroic undertaking to profile the epigenome of in vivo human dopaminergic neurons, which she then leveraged to interpret Parkinson's risk variants. @jaenice.bsky.social @ukdri.ac.uk @imperialbrains.bsky.social 🎉🎓🍾

Really nice work from the @nottalexi.bsky.social lab using functional genomics to show that genetic risk for multiple neurodegenerative diseases is linked to disease-specific microglial pathways. Congrats Aydan, @mangiruben.bsky.social and Alexi 👏🏻✨
A first first-author paper by Aydan Askarova with @mangiruben.bsky.social & @sj-marzi.bsky.social showing that genetic risk for neurodegenerative conditions is linked to disease-specific microglial pathways. @ukdri.ac.uk 🎉 🍾

Very excited to share our latest publication in @NatureGenet! Our manuscript shows how Mendelian Randomization (MR) isolates putatively causal links between cell-type specific gene expression & brain phenotypes.
