The Presidents Budget Request for NASA is out. It’s a bloodbath

Canceled are DAVINCI, VERITAS, Juno, OSIRIS-APEX, US participation in ExoMars and EnVision…

Huge cut to R&A. No funding to begin development of the Uranus Orbiter.

If you’ve ever cared about NASA, time to contact congress.

#altgov any insight on what's going down at IMLS?

Rumor has it the Deputy Secretary of Labor is now the acting director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services and implementing some sort of shutdown of the agency.

Library patrons everywhere, rise up!
The most recent EO targets federal funding of libraries.

This will impact grants, interlibrary loans, statewide databases and collections, and systems of support for public, school, and academic libraries.

What fresh hell awaits this week?

I've been a bit mentally checked out in part for my own mental health, nevermind the normal day-to-day chaos.

The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 800,000+ federal and D.C. workers (i.e. people directly impacted by a government shutdown), is urging senators to vote no on the House GOP's CR.

In other words, AFGE is saying a government shutdown is less bad than this GOP bill.

Making a list and checking it twice
I want all the fascist collaborators in the federal government snitching on their colleagues to know: we're watching you, and we're keeping lists.

Pep talk time. For some of us this is incredibly new. For others, painfully familiar. Because we the people have been here before. Pushing back against government, systems, and even each other. Open a history book. Look at whose shoulders we have been standing on.

A felony will cost you.

What counts as a felony when opposing a fascist coup?
Felony for me but not for thee.

NEW: DoJ employees asked for guarantees in writing for the deferred resignation Fork in the Road plan. They were sent this. It strips the signer of the right to sue, and also says if you commit a felony, you’re not eligible for federal employment. Oh, the irony.

Pull eOPF backups often folks.
We have heard eOPF will go offline tomorrow (Mon). Take action now!
📣 Federal workers 📣

Make sure you log into the eOPF system to download copies of your official employment records and store them in a safe location.

Important records include: SF-50, SF-52, offer letters, past performance evaluations, financial disclosure forms, etc.

Just received this email (received 3:25 pm ET), from the NSF director, informing that DOJ has interpreted the temporary restraining order on the funding freeze as applying to “all NSF award recipients.”

Again, I’ll shout it from the rooftops: lawsuits matter!!!!

Friendly reminder: OPM can't fire you or force you to resign!

Everything still has to flow through your leadership chain.

Don't give up.
This needs more traction.

Hey ex-colleagues at @apnews.com @reuters.com @nbcnews.com what's happening with NSF funding is important for the country's future. It funds research that leads to ideas and products that improve our lives. Tell the stories of PhD students, postdocs, researchers, etc., whose work/lives are affected.

Earlier today I was humoring adding my pronouns to my display name, teams, etc.

I didn't before, because I didn't care (for myself). Now I feel kinda guilty for not because some folks did have a reason to care.

Good advice, but what a shit show
If you're techy and have server space and all that jazz, please for humanity, pull everything fed gov you can from the internet.

This is not a knock at the Internet Archive / Wayback Machine.

It's called bazilliontuple redundancy... and at this pace we're going to need it.
