I started using AI to translate a friend’s letter. Months later, I found myself relying on it to navigate diabetes, shame, insulin, Ozempic prep. This is the story of how tools became a dialogue — and how an algorithm ended up knowing my psychology better than I did open.substack.com/pub/normsmus...
From Slide Rules to Soul Work: How I Ended Up Having a Philosophical Relationship With an Algorithm
A human’s unexpected journey from log-log scales to insulin tails — and the night an AI told me the truth about myself.

A personal essay on how AI helped me rethink my diabetes management — not just numbers and insulin, but shame, expectations, and patterns I never saw. It’s part tech story, part psychology, and part preparation for Ozempic.

At least a dead clock is right twice a day. I'm now on my second FreeStyle Libre 3, and it is -17 to -160. The only consistent thing is the alarm at 50 because I can't shut it up.

Love your sense of humor, thanks.
As long as you got lots of tartar sauce, you should have no complaints. (Basing this on Trump’s high standards for what makes the best Filet o Fish).

While I was waiting for my wife, who got her nails done today, I decided to get a fish sandwich at McDonald's. It must have been my lucky day as Trump must have been working there. My fries were as crisp as a wet noodle. My fish was some kind of chicken jerky, and my bun was shades of charcoal.

In the swirling vortex of American politics and religion, few statements capture the raw intensity of faith-fused loyalty like this one from Paula White, Donald Trump's White House spiritual advisor:

“To say no to Trump is like saying no to God.”

I almost always make the video before the music, but in this case I made the song first. I was sitting at dinner and was thinking about a few situations lately where instead of arguing with someone with view.

With meals like this, who needs Ozempic?
Trump’s annual Squable Goble Goble was a real feast—if you’re a sparrow. Behold the 27% savings on the tiny turkey from Walmart, a majestic squab masquerading as a holiday bird. Tremendous! The smallest, shriveled “victory meal” in presidential history. Even the gravy refused to participate. 🦃👉🕊️

Ebenezer Scrooge (McDuck): What is that? A Canary? Surely, they have more food than that.
Ebenezer was a changed man by the end of the story. Trump will never change. Mickey's Christmas Carol is more emotional to me now that I'm older. The animators would able to communicate emotion with just a look

Trump’s Thanksgiving blessing, exclusively at Walmart: 27% off, 50% fewer calories. Finally, a prayer that won’t expand your waistline OR the national debt. Limited stock—get your low-calorie grace before China slaps a tariff on salvation.
