Colorado boy, puzzle lover, reader, sports fan. Connoisseur of orange beef, chile rellenos, and all burgers.

So why'd you come home to this angel's town?
Well, it's a lifetime decision recovering the satellites.
Sunday gratitude. Made a great stir fry that will feed me for days. Slept really well, had nice drives to pass time and enjoy the sun. Cleared off my project table so I could draw and paint, which was refreshing in a deep way. I'm ready for the week, cranking for three days before the holiday break.

I'm catching myself when I see the Chiefs struggle: "Remember, we're rooting for them today. Just today though."

I have a couple games to watch tonight, but my brain is screaming for me to not have to pay attention to a screen for four hours and instead put the games on radio and doodle with my acrylics. It's a struggle, especially with the hockey game.

Choose kindness.
Choose love.
Choose books, both fun & powerful.
Choose a vehicle capable of outrunning the law, and fill it with banned books and friends who excel at a certain kind of mischief.

Sunday gratitude, important stuff first. I ate up my to-do list this weekend and have a chance to wind down tonight. Two long weekends coming up. We had amazing weather today, still. The small stuff: Denver won again, and my heart has about 20 minutes to rest before the Avalanche drop the puck.

I don't know how the football game will go, but I am reveling in this fall weather. Even here, 20 miles from the stadium, I feel like I can feel the sun and energy buzzing outside my open window.

Ran errands today, windows down and high 70s outside. Got everything I need to keep my Saturday totally free and even bought Pepsi at the store for the first time in about 10 years. That's chilling in the fridge, I expect it to be the best Pepsi I have ever tasted.

Had some time to talk with one of our personal trainers today and we talked each other into starting some sessions for me. I haven't worked with her before, but now I'm excited about starting. It's been almost two years since the last private training I did, so I'm nervous too.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Sunday gratitude for finding new amid the chaos. I am going to make a new recipe this week. I am going to add a new routine to my workout at the gym. I am going to start reading a new book. I am going to start a new painting.

Not all of those seeds may grow, but one might.

Hey Target, since customer relations seem to be important here, quick input from me, a customer:

I don't want this.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Sunday gratitude is short tonight. I'm healthy, I have been getting good sleep.

I did my best to rest up during my time off, didn't quite ever feel refreshed. So tonight has been a last-ditch effort to quiet my mind and relax my body. Windows open on a surprisingly mild evening and a book in hand.

this year especially i’ve begun to appreciate just how deeply i feel everything.

i used to be too proud to show anything other than strength & nonchalance, scared to open my heart, as i grew up believing it was “weakness.”

there’s nothing stronger than allowing your emotions to be released. 💜

Amazon is apparently working the sentimental angle, suggesting that I pick up reading book series I had ordered from them in the past... like 20 years ago.

Dinner with an old friend tonight was a great end to the day. Went to a Mexican place we had been before and I had chilaquiles that immediately became one of my favorite dishes in town. I'm full of tortillas and eggs and pretty happy right now.

Sunday gratitude: Thankfully a quiet night amid ongoing family stress, I have time for a slow shower and a book before bed. Quick work week as well, as I look forward to five days off starting Wednesday. The self-care I can put in those five days feels important right now.

It's usually a good sign when you're giving your starters a rest and your bench players cause the opponent to call a time out.
