The arbitrary and irrational firing of experienced government employees is a special kind of government waste.
The waste of hundreds of thousands of person-years of expertise and dedicated service.
Old friend just laid off by USDA, 1 mos short of his probationary period as senior researcher. Brilliant person who left a tenured faculty position several yrs ago to join USDA. Bright early-career researchers also being laid off. USDA is terminating a generation of highly-qualified scientists.

When you practice law (particularly in litigation either civil or criminal) long enough, you really learn to read people, to be able to spot liars and cons and sociopaths. Which is why Ms. Gray's assessment doesn't surprise me in the least based on what I have observed of Musk.

Same with congress members who become eligible for reduced retirement benefits as early as 50 and full no older than 62 deciding that our retirement age should be pushed higher and higher.
