Academia can feel very pointless during israel's genocide on Palestine and yet another US-backed imperialist onslaught on Iran – but reading the words of others is a reminder that each of us are not alone. And as Nora reminds us, hopefully we are in the "before of the revolution"

“At a time when those of us who are most precariously positioned are being most aggressively targeted, our work must be informed by care, by collectivity, & by deep political clarity.”

Beautiful writing by @norajaber.bsky.social & @leilaullrich.bsky.social on resisting violence in academic spaces.

“This moment necessitates that we trace & map the linkages between the various forms of oppression & harm we witness, locate their manifestations in the spaces we move in, & draw on these lessons to fight back.”

@norajaber.bsky.social & @leilaullrich.bsky.social reflect on being feminist fugitives.

We sometimes talk about how “good” or “helpful” migrants are when responding to racist politics. These sentiments might be well meaning but they just feed the idea that our worth as people is conditional on our usefulness. But we shouldn’t need to be hardworking or successful to be free from racism.

Great workshop on 'The Juridification of Justice' @lauterpachtcentre.bsky.social (@torkrever.bsky.social & @norajaber.bsky.social).

I argued that our concern should not be the degree to which justice becomes 'juridified', but which 'jus' –which understanding of law– guides our visions of justice.
