There are great conferences and science in the US, but with the way things are right now, it’s too risky to attend.
Australian academics refuse to attend US conferences for fear of being detained

Come by poster #34 at #SCMND to see some cool pictures of Lewy Pathology in cortical and dopaminergic neurons! 😁🧫

(And learn about how Lewy bodies form, what effect they have on cells, and what cell characterisrics make them vulnerable and resilient in AD and PD 🙂)

Biologists have built one of the most detailed pictures ever of the changes that occur in women’s bodies before and after pregnancy, by pooling and studying around 44 million physiological measurements from more than 300,000 births

Gigantic birth study paints most detailed picture of pregnancy’s toll on body
Data from 300,000 births reveal how essential biological measurements are altered by carrying and delivering a baby.

Always a pleasure to showcase our work to future generations of scientists!!! 🧫🎉🧠
Our colleague @norabv.bsky.social gave a talk at San Adrian High School today to share her passion for science.

Many thanks.

On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate the women shaping the future of science 👩‍🔬

In 2023, women made up only 41% of scientists and engineers in the EU. Denmark has the highest representation of female scientists and engineers (50.8%), while Hungary has the lowest (30.7%).

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

As someone who once put a bucket over a half million scope because of rain coming through the ceiling at a world class university, this checks out.
Maybe one of the reasons there are so many unhinged academics is that in order to keep your job, you’re constantly required to tout yourself as a Scholar of World-Historical Significance, even as your office’s ceiling tiles slowly dislodge themselves to fall on your head.
