Technical writer, dog sport competitor, folk horror enthusiast. Mostly pretty boring.
Still the greatest comics panel EVER. From Rex Morgan, MD. I cannot even remember when this originally happened, but at least 16 years ago.

Well, time to tune out and reread this nasty little novel. Maybe some M. R. James after this.

@jennferatu.bsky.social I too have been unable to finish The Other, but have you read Harvest Home? Also by Tom Tryon, and it's GREAT.

Haven't seen the movie, but would probably be a good candidate for Ladykillers.

Re-reading a book about folk horror called "We Don't Go Back: A Watcher's Guide to Folk Horror" by Howard David Ingham. He's talking about a UK TV show called "Dead of Night" from 1972 of which only three episodes exist still.
This one was called "The Exorcism." Here's the quote:

We are having the worst flu season in 15+ yrs & staring down an avian flu threat that has already spread unchecked in other mammals and taken American life

Our government response is to cancel planning for the next flu shot, cancel funding for bird flu vaccines & treatments, & cut Medicaid coverage

I was offering to lend a friend who is reading her first Stephen King novel my copy of the Bachman books because she was asking about them, And suddenly realized that my trade paperback is being sold for $100-$150. I knew Stephen King had removed Rage from publication but damn.

Here's what I did last week:
1) Worked all 3 of my jobs
2) Drank
3) Re-read "House of Psychotic Women"
4) Cleaned up a lot of pee because one of my dogs has an adrenal tumor he's being operated on for next week.
5) Tried to make some tiny contribution to keeping the U.S. a democracy.

Has someone explained to the billionaires and to Congress that if they kill off all of the peasants they won't be anyone to do any actual work?

It's going to take a while to get the Androids up and running.

The place I'm at for lunch has two restrooms. They are labeled "Bathroom." While slightly inaccurate (no bathtub in there) it's an otherwise pretty elegant solution.

AI is stupid.

AI insists that the McCoy's song "Hang On Sloopy" has nothing to do with sex.

This is wrong. Read the lyrics of the last stanza. Then go listen to the song.

That last "ohh" isn't an "ohh." It's a scream. They're literally fucking and she's on top.

This Whippet, pictured with a stolen bagged salad, has figured out how to open the cabinet where the dog food is kept. Said cabinet now baby-proofed.

My Shelties never figured this out. Don't tell me herding dogs are smarter than sighthounds

You CAN talk to the animals!

What does this dog want?

Hints: She's an Italian Greyhound.

The heat was on at the time

She was scratching at the register.

You guys milk is gross. Granted, I put half and half in my coffee. But milk is still gross. Raw milk is even grosser. Don't do this.

Vivi is very good at telling me what she wants. She came in to the kitchen and actually scratched at the register (the furnace was running). All the floor-level blankets/sleeping bags were occupied and I had to get her a fresh one.
