A while back I think I said RFK would end up a mass murderer on at least a Pol Pot level, and that prediction is looking pretty good.

Peter Navarro: "The jobs report comes out tomorrow. We have to revise our expectations down significantly for what a monthly job number should look like ... Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the job market."

Re: the NFL and Bad Bunny

At least 10 years ago, I met with the EA Madden NFL studio to talk about Madden Ultimate Team (multiplayer live service gaming with in-app purchases)

They told me Latinos and Blacks over-indexed by 100% in their audience

That meant 39% of Madden players were Latino

This actually undersells it, because Bezos doesn't have it in a Scrooge McDuck vault, he (like every other rich person and many normal people) has invested it, so it grows. If he lit $1m/day on fire he could do it forever. He has to spend at over $25m/day just to keep from getting richer.
again we do not really do a good job of explaining how wealthy people like Jeff Bezos are

his net worth is $253.2 billion.
so he could take one million dollars, and just light it on fire
and then do it again tomorrow
and again the day after that
and then do it every day for 693 years and 8 months

I'm surprised that no Dem has staked out the position that Trump/Noem/Bovino should resign. I'm aware they never will, but why not get some media attention for the idea when your signature policy results in the public execution of 2 citizens you should resign in disgrace?

It continues to be disturbing that in this era, one of the public intellectuals who most clearly articulates my highest priority political beliefs is Bill fucking Kristol.

I want to get off this ride.
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

I'm generally in favor of more strident messaging and tactics from the Dems, but in fairness to them they ran a "Trump is a dangerous fascist who promises to destroy America" campaign just last cycle and the voters elected the fascist and gave him control of Congress.
January 22, 2026 at 2:38 AM
At this point any Dem near a microphone needs to be demanding the cabinet 25th Amendment him, not because they will, but so the media has to start writing about it and asking Rs about it on camera.
Trump is now confusing Greenland and Iceland: "They're not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland has already cost us a lot of money."

I think the right line is "Trump has turned GW's terrible ICE agency into a Gestapo nightmare that costs billions and disappears citizens off the street. We should tear it down and go back to Clinton-era INS." And then just design whatever immigration agency we want and call it 'INS'.

I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called but there was a fantastic szechuan chinese place on 110 & Broadway in NYC, it got bulldozed when they knocked down the building in ~2004. Best sesame chicken I've ever had, and you could eat lunch for <$10 despite it being kinda upscale.

The step in here that's missing is the voters repeatedly giving the right political power on the grounds of the bullshut bad faith objection. That the public keeps buying the bad faith bullshit despite many MANY efforts to debunk it as a big reason why the Dems get squishy on these topics.
This dynamic is basically unchanged in the decades I've followed US politics. The right raises a bullshit bad-faith objection, Dems try to change policy to address it, the right just repeats the bad-faith objection, Dems try again ... forever.
So in the end, what does this article amount to? Republicans are telling the same lie about welfare that they've told for 40 years despite consistent efforts — including many led by Democrats — to restrict and police it.

And in response, Democrats should restrict and police it even more.

As much as I'm in favor of burning ICE to the ground and starting over, I do worry about how 'Abolish ICE' plays with non-politicals, that it sounds like 'No border control'.

I do think this is a better pitch: ICE is a failure, we should ditch it and go back to what worked just fine 20 years ago.
I’d love to see a poll Q about INS. I bet a lot of people over forty think it still exists. The easiest play may be for Dems to say “we need to restore the Immigration & Naturalization Service & put ICE back where it belongs,” then pass whatever they want.
Say this exact phrase even if this exact phrase makes it harder to achieve what it demands!

Again, France is a nuclear power with (unlike the UK) independently developed weapons including at least one nuclear sub on patrol in the Atlantic.

I don't think it's going to come to this, but France can make DC glow in the dark if it wants. That's how insane this whole thing is.
Look at what Trump has done.
January 15, 2026 at 7:39 AM
I don't think we've really grappled with the fact that the US has nukes deployed in 5 countries that would be treaty bound to defend Denmark. Like, is there a world were the troops aren't at best expelled or at worst become instant POWs while creating 5 new nuclear weapon powers?
If Trump invades Greenland, the Europeans won't fight back, Republicans will defend it, Democrats will issue statements, there will be protests, and most Americans will disapprove of it enough to earn Democrats a bit more of the vote in November. Then on to the next thing.
More than an attempted coup, where a mob tried to seize Congress on live television did? There's not going to be an implosion about anything. It's either a slow slide towards oblivion where everything gets incrementally worse as people try to live normally, or a slow grind in the opposite direction.

I don't care if we swap out Schumer/Jeffries, but I wish people were honest about the whole 'Dems didn't use their power' complaint. The last time Dems had real power was under Obama when then passed the ACA, which I'd argue is a pretty important thing (it saved my dad's life for one).
No! The criticism of the Dems isn't that they never win elections, it's that they don't use power to solve the problems that got us here. Elite impunity, concentration of wealth, the unitary executive. Winning is only step 1
New - Chuck Schumer to haters: “The answer to these critics is to win. If we win back the Senate, that will answer every question"

Peltola “was the last piece to the puzzle"

He says Dem path to Senate is Ohio, Alaska, Maine and NC. Dems are watching Texas/Iowa

It's the troops thing that really blows my mind. Like how can NATO/EU allow US troops within their borders if Trump tries to take Greenland? And if they expell them they make like 5 new Nuclear weapons powers if they don't let the US evacuate their EU based nukes when evicted.
The Telegraph reports that Europeans expect Trump to disapprove a large deployment of military forces by NATO to Greenland, and is preparing for a severe deterioration of Atlantic relations as a result.

I'm celebrating this because you have to reward the behavior you want to see more of.
Jeffries: "The killing of Renee Nicole Good was an abomination, a disgrace, and blood is clearly on the hands of those individuals within the admin who have been pushing an extreme policy that has nothing to do with immigration enforcement connected to removing violent felons from this country"
January 10, 2026 at 6:55 PM
Seems not great that your average cashier at a minimum wage burger joint is held to higher standards of behavior than people the state employs to carry a gun.

Like 1/10th this level of aggression gets you fired from McDonalds before you finish your shift.
I think it is probably a bad idea to put clearly unhinged, angry psychopaths in federal law enforcement positions.
