Chengdu: an enormous Chinese city (21 million people) that most Americans have never heard of (I know it mostly because it was the wartime capital of Chiang Kai-Shek's regime). It had zero subway/train transit in 2010. Look at this expansion. America could never. Gasped when the ring line came in.

Here’s a cool fact I came across today: the world’s population doubled between 1975 and 2020 (nothing new there). But at the same time, built-up areas almost tripled!
