Looking at the IRL category on Twitch, all I can think of is a brand-new horror short story called “I Have No Brain, and I Must Stream”.

“Man, these solo journaling games don’t make any sense.”

“Haven’t you just finished writing one?”

“Did I stutter?”

I should stop inviting people to creative meetings after a shopping spree in the local winery.
Let us introduce you to our bulletproof strategy for marketing a new TTRPG:
1. Publish it by mistake days earlier.
2. Forget about it for days.
3. Half-assedly fill a couple of forms for a mention in newsletters you don’t read.
4. Get drunk with four bottles of Chianti in three.
5. Rinse and repeat.

Today, a colleague asked me why I rushed out to help occupy the streets during the spontaneous demonstration against Israel’s illegal actions toward the GSF.
“You have a child, you should be careful.”
It’s precisely because I have a child that I must resist. He doesn’t deserve a world like this.

My socialist and eversive baby <3.
To the chuds reading, we assure you that our next game is not political, not at all. It neither tries to pass off shamefully subversive concepts, such as the fact that work is a right and workers should be treated with dignity. It’s just a red manual with a lot of raised fists—nothing to see here.

“Please, tell me your next #ttrpg is not political.”

Uh, well...

They told me, “You’ll mellow out as you get older,” but here I am at forty-one, about to order a KNEECAP t-shirt with ‘Níl fáilte roimh an RUC’ on it.
At this pace, I fully expect to be joining a nice armed struggle workshop by the time I’m fifty.

I asked a couple of pros in the TTRPG world to read this article before publishing it. Their opinion, in short, was: “Yes, all true, but what’s the alternative?”
I honestly don’t know. I’m not sure the actual model can work in the stormy economic recession that awaits us all.
After analyzing crowdfunding for TTRPGs from an economic perspective (spoiler: it’s not pretty), let’s take a look together at why some of the system’s perks, such as stretch goals, are also one of the reasons for the market failure of the games that use it.
Why we don’t like crowdfunding - Part 2
Sometimes you play the game well. Sometimes the game plays you.

My maternal grandfather was a prisoner of war of the nazis. My paternal grandfather fought in the hills of Tuscany against these fuckers and lost good friends in the process. I’ve been antifascist my whole life. I can’t possibly use a platform that lets actual white supremacists run rampant.
So, we’re still having a nazi problem on Substack. Monetized nazis, nonetheless! As grandsons of Italian partisans and nazi POWs, we can’t possibly stay on a platform that gives these scums of the Earth a place to spew their brain-dead hatred.
Substack sent a push alert promoting a Nazi blog
The newsletter's logo is a swastika and it has pushed Holocaust denialism along with news and opinion content for the 'White Nationalist Community.'

I tried to run some numbers for Oddplan on Crowdfunding for TTRPGs. Results are not pretty.
We’re not particularly fond of crowdfunding as the primary revenue generator for TTRPGs. There are several reasons, but we’ll start by discussing the economics of it.

I mean, we're not exactly wrong.
As an RPG designer, you should be proud and happy of being no more than an artisan. Leave all the "Artist" posturing to other creative endeavors.
You produce tools, not art.
How RPG designers are more craftsmen than artists, and why that’s ok.

Looking at some books about prehistoric animals and dinosaurs with my kid, it seems clear to me that nature has undergone a shameful shrinkflation. And we're paying for it!

I want to share a story close to me and dear for many reasons on International Workers' Day. The most prolonged occupation of an Italian factory, a community that becomes stronger the longer it endures.

Happy May 1st. The value of your labor belongs to you and the actions of the state are best understood as as a coordinated effort to distract you from this. The state fears an organized and unified proletariat like it fears death and rightly so. Power to the workers and power to the people

To get our bearings as game #ttrpg authors and producers in this post-tariff environment, we sought the advice of an industry expert. After all, as much as we might be right to complain, it sadly doesn't achieve anything.

Yesterday, I was in the middle of a nationwide blackout on a work trip; today, somebody accessed a delivery app I no longer use (cause fuck 'em!) and ordered 80 euros of gift cards.
I need to change all my passwords, and above all else, I need to lie down for a little while.

Maybe it's my Italian blood, even if I'm unbaptized and critical of the Church since I was 14, but all this chatter about JD Vance and the Pope is perplexing. One of the most prominent figures in the World dies, and somehow y'all find a way to make it about America. You *truly* are exceptional, uh?
