A few years ago this Crimson Rosella had a tick in his eye. He was very sick so I caught him, removed the tick and next day took to carer. 5 days later he was returned and 20minutes after release he was back with his partner. They have lived here permanently ever since.

This interior was painted in 1890 when Vilhelm Hammershøi's career was on the rise: the French critic and collector Théodore Duret expressed his admiration for Hammershøi's paintings, preferring them to those of any other contemporary Danish painter.

My essay on Vilhelm Hammershøi is now live. Slightly later than planned - I was waiting on permission to use an image. This work is 'Looking out on the Exterior, Strandgade 30.' www.richardmorris.org/blog-1-1/vil...

The closeness of Édouard Vuillard's relationship to Lucy Hessel (his dealer's wife) is clear in this picture, from 1905, not least because her face appears in shadow - it's a glimpse into their lives, an intimate and informal moment immortalised for prosperity.

Not just great for people and better aesthetically but also great for biodiversity, reducing the urban heat island, & stormwater capture. It's a win-win-win-win!
Once you see how cars have radically changed our landscape, you cannot unsee it (but you can undo it).

Akseli Gallen-Kallela is famous for his illustrations of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, and for his paintings of Finland’s countryside and people; with this work 'Spring at Kalela,' at the turn of the new century, he achieved a culmination of his national romantic period of the 1890s.

And, given that this was at my local suburban creek, these probably ended up enjoying my apple trees 😄
