Plants require sunlight to survive, yet excessive exposure can cause photodamage.

Luckily a photoprotective "switch" triggers the conversion of excess solar energy to harmless heat.

I'm able to make this animation of how the ocean breathes in and out CO₂ because of data collected by NOAA scientists, data served at NOAA websites, and tools provided by NASA. All are under threat of being dismantled by the Trump administration.
