My grand finale tonight. An image I've dreamed of capturing ever since being a young boy in the 1960s. The iconic Horsehead Nebula. It's taken 4 months since buying the SeestarS50 for the time, location and seeing conditions to be right.

Very happy with this. 😊🎉🔭

Terrible brewery news to start the year. Petition to Wind Up Farr Brew, Hertfordshire based, lovely range of beers, facing financial pressure & unlucky to have had to move from their Wheathampstead location due to landlord issues. They also run pubs inc. the wonderful Elephant & Castle. #BskyBeer

I don’t know how many professional brewers migrated to Bluesky, but I have a request for you.

Is your brewery healthy (using any definition that makes sense to you) and even growing? If so, I would love to have a chat. I think we need to remind people you exist. DM/reply/email. Thanks!

Enjoyable evening playing with the Seestar again. A range of targets tonight; couple of nebulae, a galaxy and the Pleiades. Much better seeing conditions now a lot of the neighbours' Christmas lights have been turned off or taken down 🙂🔭

'Even one drink a day raises mouth cancer risk by 50%, study warns' says the @the-independent.com headline. Read on and you'll see that's "when combined with chewing tobacco". And of course there's no indication of the absolute risk, *sigh*

Beer O'Clock and at last getting round to trying the Hawkstone Black. Very smooth, light body, pleasant flavour with more chocolate than coffee on the palate. Nice beer. Added bonus of Miss Lulu Furball's bum in the pic 🙄

Cheers 🍻

Morning all. Cold and frosty here again, -4C. Going to need my big coat I reckon. Time to take down the Christmas decorations and pack them away until 1st September 😉

Roast beef on the menu but alas no pub visit planned. Still got a few Belgian Christmas beers to enjoy though 😊🍻

The new year actually starts today for our next trip round the sun 🌞🔭
At 5.15pm GMT today, the Earth will be at perihelion, the closest point to the Sun in our annual round.

This should be the start of the year. Happy new orbit, everyone!
