My grand finale tonight. An image I've dreamed of capturing ever since being a young boy in the 1960s. The iconic Horsehead Nebula. It's taken 4 months since buying the SeestarS50 for the time, location and seeing conditions to be right.

Very happy with this. 😊🎉🔭

The Thornbridge/Theakston, bottle-conditioned, 'from the Union' take on Masham Ale is a joy. Traditional English strong* ale at its best.

Beer O'Clock on a wet miserable day here in Essex. Something special then to brighten my mood 😊 This Fullers Brewery 180th Anniversary bottle conditioned Porter at 7%ABV fits the bill and is excellent 👌

Lots of chit chat about lowering ABV in beer vs Quality. First of all understand what alcohol adds to drink: Enhances flavour and character; complexity. Sweetness. Warmth. Body. Define quality: Not as easy as people think. Who judges quality? Consumer? Brewer? What is quality?

Good to visit the new Spoons in Basildon, Essex today. Very impressive I have to say. Separate area for pouring the drinks for table service with dedicated staff for just that, speeds things up greatly. Top notch cellar with triple level stillage for the Cask ales. I can see this as JDW's future. 🍻

Morning, another fine day for Cask Marque duties. Heading to Grays, Thurrock and Basildon.

And The Ale House, Chelmsford has announced dates for its Xmas Beer Festival 🙂🍻

Poppies are a symbol of remembrance on Armistice Day. Did you know that some poppies are also the source of powerful opioid painkillers?

Remembrance Day Beer O'Clock. Raising a glass to the fallen and my great grandfather, Albert Vigor, fought and wounded at Ypres in 1915.

My first taste of Fuller's 2025 Vintage Ale. A rich malty and fruitcake background with nice citrus/fruit notes on the nose. Very enjoyable. Cheers 🍻
