Californians: If you’re protesting today, protect one another and hold the line for peace.

There’s no place for violence in our democracy.

If you see agitators, alert law enforcement and look out for your fellow citizens. Stay safe. Stay peaceful.

The targeted shootings that took the lives of Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and left Sen. John Hoffman and his wife wounded are devastating. My heart is with their families and loved ones. 1/2

As a California lawmaker, I’m heartbroken and horrified by the assassination of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in a targeted, politically motivated attack. I pray for the recovery of Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were also shot in a separate incident.

This fight is far from over, but we’re one step closer to protecting our community’s health and safety.

Thank you to CalEPA and DTSC for stepping in and taking urgent action to hold the landfill accountable.

I was proud to stand in solidarity with my colleagues today who remain committed to addressing the state's housing crisis. No matter where you live in CA, these laws we voted yes on today make it easier to build faster, and construct more housing – because we must make housing more affordable!
