John Burton was a giant in California politics — fearless, passionate, and unapologetically committed to fighting for the most vulnerable among us. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the policies he championed, and the generations of leaders he inspired. I will miss him deeply.

I had the chance to sit down with my constituent, Yom HaShoah honoree, and new mental health advocate Ruth Litwin.

One of the best parts of recess is getting to spend quality time in the district and connect with community members like Ruth—people doing meaningful work and making a difference.

Today, @ppmarmonte.bsky.social, the largest @ppfa.org affiliate in the country, has closed five health care centers.

The budget Congressional Republicans supported and sent to Trump to sign has effectively cut off access to critical health care services for thousands.

Today we honor Juneteenth — a celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black joy. It marks the end of slavery in the United States, and reminds us that the work of justice and equity is ongoing.

I’m heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mike Rotkin today in Santa Cruz. Mike was a compassionate leader, devoted public servant, and beloved community member whose spirit and wisdom touched so many.

Happy Heavenly Father's Day to both my dad and my husband, Tom. 💙

It's fitting that Father's Day falls within Men's Health Month — a good reminder to check in with the fathers and father figures in your life.
Sending love to all, and holding space for those for whom this day is difficult.

As a California lawmaker, I’m heartbroken and horrified by the assassination of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in a targeted, politically motivated attack. I pray for the recovery of Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were also shot in a separate incident.

Today, I watched in horror as US Senator
@padilla.senate.gov was violently pushed out of a press conference and handcuffed for asking questions, for demanding answers on behalf of his constituents. This is not democracy. This is not the America I love. I proudly stand with my Senator and my friend.

For ~80 years Walnut Creek Family & Women's Center has been survivors of domestic violence during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Thank you for joining @valor.us‬ lobby day and sharing what a lack of funding for survivor services will mean for you, our community and the state.
