John Burton was a giant in California politics — fearless, passionate, and unapologetically committed to fighting for the most vulnerable among us. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the policies he championed, and the generations of leaders he inspired. I will miss him deeply.

I’m heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mike Rotkin today in Santa Cruz. Mike was a compassionate leader, devoted public servant, and beloved community member whose spirit and wisdom touched so many.
