Going to do the same here in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

“How would you prefer to see Northwest Arkansas developed?”

Sadly, we’re overrun with folks who want single family houses and to protect the natural beauty of the city. Can’t have both, folks.

this is why i think the power of point access blocks is even greater at scale...

not only do you house nearly same number of people - you do it in like 60% of the footprint

meaning construction costs go way down.
more privacy. more space for trees. more daylight. homes that cross ventilate.
here's version w/ (4) 6 story 'el'-shaped PABs

300 homes

half of them are 2-4 bedrooms (status quo development in seattle right now has that number at <6%)

max FAR: 2.8 (less than half what would normally see on a 6 story site)

lot coverage: 47%

look at how massive those courtyards are: 🌳🌳🌳🌳

you know how i keep saying single stair buildings are workhorse of walkable urbanism the world over?

here are 174 homes on a 2.2 acre block in seattle.

(16) 4-5 story single stair buildings.

what do you think FAR is?
what about lot coverage?
unit distribution?

Buy a cool house, I said. Why would anyone want to live in a cookie-cutter builder home, I asked.

Yesterday, the 45 year-old 4 foot by 7 foot single-pane skylight in our primary bath shattered into a million little pieces. Thankfully nobody was in there.

Oh, the joys of homeownership.

All this kvetching about among “leaders” trying to figure how to bring down prices is exhausting.

What if we just paid all people a living wage that kept up with inflation?

Seems simple to me. 🤷‍♂️

It's possible. Not with what we have built. But it is possible if we want it.
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

This is pre-bailout GM levels of bad rebadging.

Nissan couldn’t even get the refreshed version of the Mitsubishi. Why would anyone buy this?

Continuously disappointed by my alma mater. 👎

Texas A&M is no longer a "university". It's a Vacation Bible School with a football team and parking problems.
Message to all faculty: your expertise is no longer trusted or valued at this so-called “university.”

If the Ferrari F1 team needed to have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad race weekend in Brazil so that the Ferrari WEC team could win multiple championships (driver & constructor's) at the end of the 8 Hours of Bahrain, I'll gladly accept that trade from the motorsports gods.

What's most frustrating about Sprint weekends overall is the lack of overall preparation time.

It's clear several teams haven't unlocked their cars' potential given this lack of time, and this excellence is, fundamentally, what #F1 is supposed to be all about. 1 hour isn't it.

City council members heard hours of public comment Wednesday, most of it in support of DART, before voting to call the election.
