Wickedly wordy. Amateur whale watcher. Libra. Progressive. Millennial. Mom. Wife. REALTOR with Lake & Co. Former Attorney. Podcast fams: Ten! Geezer! Swiftie. St. Louis born and raised, Tacoma for college, Seattle since '08. Can I pet your dog?
Someone should write a fan fic about how Galt’s Gulch (fictional libertarian dreamland of Ayn Rand’s in Atlas Shrugged) becomes The Capitol (fictional libertarian hellscape from Hunger Games). Both are located in Colorado and the progression from one to the next is the obvious outcome.

In 1990 Betsy Anderson, a 6 year old in WA, was tragically killed when she crossed too close to the front of her school bus and the driver didn’t see her; now, all school busses in the US have a safety arm or “Betsy Bar” to keep kids from walking too close.

This post isn’t about school bus arms.

The next 7 days: hosting a kid birthday party, one kid only has camp 3 hours a day, going out of town for a night so figuring out kid coverage coordination for my husband (don’t @ me about how he could do it, he does plenty), two closings, and leaving town with my kids at the end of the week. 😵‍💫🫠

Booker is still going many minutes past breaking the record because it’s about so much more than the record. The record is a footnote. It’s about the tyranny America is objectively suffering under right now. He’s been on topic the whole time. THANK YOU. More of this!

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business.

We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.

If we’re renaming bodies of water based on petty grievances, I propose that this be renamed the Kendrick Lamar passage.

This piece was really well written and will connect for readers who may have been a tiny tangential relationship to hockey. McGill is clearly an excellent advocate for all the communities he’s a part of.
Shifting hockey culture one player at a time 🫶

Brock McGillis, the first openly gay former pro hockey player, kicked off the U.S. leg of his ‘Culture Shift Tour’ last week, proving real toughness is about standing up & creating change → bit.ly/McGillis021125

CPR certified for the first time in many many years. Learned how to use the AED, too. A worthwhile way to spend a couple hours.

You do not have to watch inauguration. You do not have to engage with content about it. Unless you are media and it’s your job then you can tune out. I will be off social media today to avoid the bombardment of stupid, I encourage you to join me!

Puget Sound people: please link your favorite local weather nerds! My fav hasn’t migrated from twitter. And the first person to mention that guy whose name rhymes with miff lass gets a metaphorical noogie (not that he’s on here anyway, I would have no clue).

Drop your “Taylor Swift has the opportunity to do the funniest thing” ideas for the last run of shows…

My ideas: Post Malone comes out but not during Fortnight, instead he takes Jan’s place in the set before ICDIWABH

She changes the rep bodysuit again but only to switch which arm/leg are covered

Dropping my 3 year old off at a new daycare this AM. He’s a second kid so naturally we’ve never visited, only emailed with the owner, and haven’t filled out any forms. But he’s her problem for the next few hours and that’s all that matters.
