Is it the rules that everyone you (try to) sell to on F*cebook Marketplace is either a) completely unhinged or b) a time waster or c) a combination of both?

A few thoughts on my beloved Penda's Fen. I wrote this last summer for the great @shindigmagazine.bsky.social, and it's now fresh on the Haunted Generation website...

Screen Time: Penda’s Fen
“They won’t spot it,” says the elderly ghost of Sir Edward Elgar, genially pontificating from an iron wheelchair in a derelict 1970s farm building. “They have no demon for counterpoint…”…

Jean-Paul Sartre died in 1980. Incredible to think he may have seen the film “Every Which Way But Loose”.

Seriously, one of the maddest films I’ve ever seen. Wheatley is a true auteur. Great night.

I’m normally a big Aldi advocate, but this is one of the foulest ales I’ve had the misfortune to slurp. It tastes more like gasoline than grapefruit. Revolting. 1/10

Huge thanks to Iain at Roker Records for sorting out a super clean OG to replace my battered old copy at a superb price. Great little record shop in Sunderland.

My daughter has just finished her mock A-level Art exam and just sent me this snap of her finished piece. The folk horror gene has definitely been passed down. #folkhorrorart #folkhorror

A few friends are compiling our favourite 25 albums of the 21st Century. It’s a tough task. But it did make me pull out Fleet Foxes’ debut LP. While listening (still amazing btw) I had a cursory glance at the liner notes.. which explains the power of music in a hugely thoughtful way.

Lots of the 25 best albums of the 21st century, which is far more interesting than the albums of the year lists. First record I think of is Blackstar, which is by far and away the one that stands out. Nothing will ever come close. Auteur to the end. #bowieforever
