The Social Media giants need to be accountable.

Banning SM for kids under 16 simply lets those corporations off the hook and those kids who want to, will not only get round it - but do so surreptitiously and in my opinion that's far more dangerous.

From what Australian friends tell me - kids who wanted to, just got round the ban and lied to parents and guardians.

Not convinced that's progress at all.

People need to be less restrained about open comparisons between Trump and early Hitler.

"Inferior" people to be expunged. Claiming territory that is theirs "by right". Violent assaults on the legislature. Obsessed with grievances. Constant violent rhetoric. Military used on their own people.
And now a blood-and-soil pivot into how the orgy of ICE violence unleashed on Minnesota is a defense of "the West"
against a "foreign" and inferior culture.

My snap take on Trump’s Davos speech. For all his bullying bluster, it was the weak and needy bleating of a spoilt brat knowing he can’t get his way on everything.

I cannot tell you how absolutely infuriatingly this stuff comes across to Europeans.

When we say America is no longer a reliable ally, it goes considerably deeper than Donald Trump himself. This kind of complacent, condescending shit is a *huge* part of it.

Trump sincerely believes Norway stole “his” Nobel Peace Prize.

That isn’t a joke. It’s the key to understanding his second presidency.

We have to drop the self-delusion, over-intellectualisation and listen to him. America is no longer Europe’s ally.

Entirely typical of the BBC's treatment of trans people that it presents Michael Foran, who is literally on the advisory Board of the Sex Matters hate group, as an independent expert.

Western leaders tiptoeing around hoping things can be patched up are making mistake. Appeasement doesn’t work. Starmer should make clear to British public what’s at stake and prepare them for rough road ahead. I believe Brits wd respond positively, and be willing to accept some costs. Self respect.

I’m increasingly fucking mad at Trump, his cronies, and moral cowards in GOP. Most Americans still don’t get how bad it is. Europeans, and Canada, need to organize mass protests outside US embassies, bases, Trump properties, and make enough noise that it finally registers.
As long as Trump remains POTUS, nobody can take the US seriously.
Nobody can make any agreement with the US.
The US has become out of bounds.
In the long run, this madness will be vewry costly for the US.
Don't US republicans understand that?
Are they merely cowards?

For years, experts have warned that nature loss would become a security threat.

Now a national security assessment confirms it: biodiversity collapse risks food shortages, economic instability and global disorder.

Nature underpins our global safety. So why is UK Government failing to protect it?

Faced with the deranged threats and wild madness of Trump’s presidency, our Brexit ‘sovereignty’ couldn’t be more costly… and yet worthless.
Farage and Badenoch would rather bend the knee to the US monster than admit that our future is with Europe.
The deceit is pathological. Sociopathic. Ruinous.

The Trump disbelief that the Norwegian govt doesn't control the Nobel process is deeply indicative of his thinking. He can't conceive that an institution could (or should) be genuinely independent of coercion or political power. That's the change he represents.
Trump: "I should have gotten the Nobel prize for each war...I saved millions and millions of people...and don't let anyone tell you that Norway doesn't control the shots. It's in Norway. Norway controls the shots. It's a joke. They've lost such prestige.“
