MCPHS Pre-PA Pathway
It is important to remember that simple foods, such as Greek Yogurt, can be quick add-ons that you can incorporate into your meals. Many diets overcomplicate what to eat and how to live on a day-to-day basis. We all need to take a step back and remember the basics! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Tom Carroll taught me that lasting change comes from consistency, not perfection. He ate the same Chick-fil-A salad every day, cut out alcohol, and lost 132 lbs. As a future PA, I need to remember not to overcomplicate a problem that can be solved with healthy habits. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

It would be interesting to examine the long-term effects of a vegan diet on a person's metabolic rate. I wonder whether, depending on an individual's prior diet, it would be too dramatic a switch or an additional pathway for individuals trying to lose weight. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I learned that weight loss is an ongoing fight and that you can easily fall back into old habits. The results showed how hard it can be for someone to lower their metabolic rate. I now have a better understanding of the challenges people face when trying to lose weight. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

All types of seafood are great ways you add nutrients to each of your meals. I have found it very easy to cook fish and mix it in with veggies to make a healthy bowl for the day. Coming from Maine, I spear fish with many of my friends, which we can eat for the week! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I struggle during the summer before work to plan, shop, prepare, and cook healthy foods for the day. I am able to notice a big difference between the days that I eat healthy, compared to the quick grab-and-go at a gas station. The photo provided is a rare meal prep day! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

The benefits of collagen supplements can be enormous, and it isn't spoken about enough! Collagen can be added to many meals, which can help support people of all ages against the wear and tear of daily life. It is the foundation for the maintenance of our bodies! @burningpounds.bsky.social #beh353

The article speaks of the risks of seasonal depression, as some people may be currently experiencing. A very common vitamin that is taken to help with this is Vitamin D supplements, which can improve the symptoms, sleep, and much more. www.healthline.com/health/depre... @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This reminder about how to better train your brain to focus is very helpful. I have procrastinated on assignments and pushed them off until the last minute. Many of these techniques are used daily and are very useful. I look forward to using them for the exam this week! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I would recommend to patients an article by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO is a respected and trustworthy global government organization. It provides an overview of changes patients can make every day to improve their health. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Living in Maine, I was exposed to all kinds of seafood, which I now love. When I first tried octopus, I was nervous about the tentacles! However, I ended up loving it, and it is a regular part of my meal at restaurants. It's a great source of protein and vitamins! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Best Recipes for Octopus, Food & Wine. It may seem unnerving, but cooking octopus at home is worth the effort. Whether grilled or braised, the tentacles are incredibly delicious. #Octopus is low in calories and a good source of protein. #WorldOctopusDay www.foodandwine.com/cooking-tech...

I researched the carnivore diet: meat, poultry, eggs, seafood, fish, dairy, and water. Many influencers try the diet, and I wondered about the long-term effects it can have. It can cause weight loss, improve blood sugar, but it can also negatively affect heart health.

I drink coffee every morning, not always thinking of how many cups I have or how much sugar and add-ons I use. This reminder is key that moderation=life. Coffee can benefit you, but not when you overdo it! Be mindful of the syrups, sauces, and cold foam you add in the AM!

Wake up & smell the antioxidants! Moderate coffee (1–4 cups/day) may lower risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes & Parkinson’s. But limit sugar & caffeine—coffee isn’t recommended for kids or teens. #Coffee #Antioxidants #eatright #NationalCoffeeDay www.eatright.org/health/welln...

I love burrito bowls! I add everything when I buy takeout to get the most for my dollar. I broke down what I usually add, and found that sour cream and cheese have very low nutritional value and are calorie-dense. Additions like brown rice, fajita veggies can boost my meal!@beh353.bsky.social#beh353

These are great examples of high collagen foods! I forget how important it is to include during our daily meals. Collagen is vital to our skin, hair, nail health, and so much more! In the nursing home I work in, I have seen the powerful benefits it has in people's bodies! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Reflecting over the past 24 hours, I realize I have eaten a lot of Mexican food! It was easy to keep track of everything I ate because it remained consistent throughout the week. I maintain a relatively clean, balanced diet with a high amount of protein, carbs, and fats! #beh353@beh353.bsky.social

I commonly forget about the importance of sleep and end up prioritizing work over health. I push off rest and tell myself that I can catch up the next night, which is very harmful. This is a good reminder of the mental/physical benefits that a well-rested night can bring! #beh353@beh353.bsky.social

The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for carbs is 130 grams per day. This minimal amount needed to supply the brain and nervous system is just enough glucose to function correctly. While many people surpass this, it shows how vital carbs are to keep our brains running!

This is a great reference sheet! I have been seeing a lot of influencers who have "how to lose 10 lbs in 10 days". When I look into their comments, many people are buying into their program without looking into whether they are a credible source to use! Do you have any tips to find credible pages?

“Oversized headlines obscure tiny studies” speaks about how the media covers for flashy, untested studies. Smaller studies with few volunteers are overshadowed by larger ones due to better marketing, risking misleading internet users and causing negative results. media=🛑 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I am in the MCPHS pre-PA 2030 program and want to learn about food's role in energy consumption. I wonder how different foods can help optimize people's lives. Healthy eating is balancing food without overcomplicating it. My favorite food is a burrito bowl from El Jefe. #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social
