FYI, by RAW, 2024 #dnd has now made it a definite rule that a Lightning Bolt spell can affect two side by side rows of squares on the grid, due to all AoE's starting points being a corner of a square.

Pretty cool: The Adventures in Faerun book is set 10 years after Rime of the Frostmaiden, as it describes the chardalyn dragon attack in that book as happening 10 years ago, and the remains of the dragon are still in the town. #dnd

I'm creating a gang of weresharks for my Iomandra game, and man, the lycanthrope rules in #dnd 2024 are... bland.
Feels like the game assumes players and DMs can't handle lycanthropy, so it just took it away. Boring.

One of the big complaints about the forgotten realms has been the many NPC's in it that outshine the player characters. They sort of got away from that over the past decade, so creating a player themed book with a bunch of setting NPC's on the cover is certainly a choice.

It was first mentioned in the WEG d6 game (Rebel Alliance Sourcebook), and in current Disney canon it first appeared in a Fantasy Flight sourcebook.

I consider the 2024 MM mostly a missed opportunity. Could have been a lot better. Stat blocks are an improvement. But there are strange choices made in it.
