I am a Wiki editor fighting misinformation. One of approximately 15% of editors who identify as women. I am also among the 10% of editors who edit in Spanish. Why is this important? Editor demographics reflect Wiki content, with four times more men's biographies and most pages written in English.

Chilean elections this Sunday. I was interviewed as an expat. I worry about the misinformation by the traditional news media that may give a win to the far right.

Terrible news. Keep safe and get the vaccine!
Canada has just lost measles elimination status. The U.S. will undoubtedly follow shortly.

Elimination means that there is no continuous spreading of measles within the country for a year or longer.

Canada and the U.S. have blown it, and it’s largely the fault of the anti-vaccination movement.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
