It’s more of a Berzerk/Pac-Man hybrid. But… 5 lines! 👏
It wasn't always easy to get arcade games to port to the home computer. Still, managing to get Pac-Man into 5 lines of code is a feat, particularly on the TRS-80.

This is fantastic introduction to how @cooldowngames.bsky.social came to be. It’s a bittersweet tale of how a phoenix can emerge from the ashes in the gaming industry.

New to Bluesky?
Here’s a fantastic how-to thread with recommendations for how to get started.
🦋 WELCOME TO BLUESKY! I recommend exploring our custom feeds, which are a little like hashtags but more interesting. We have them for academic and professional subjects, sports, cities, hobbies (e.g., gardening, baking), and many more. Search them in the sidebar under Feeds. 🧵

Breathing in smoke from wildfires is really bad for your health. During the NorCal fires we learned the hard way. Please mask up in LA. #lafires #health #maskup #lunghealth
PSA to my friends in California near the fires: breathing in wildfire smoke is really bad for you (even if it’s not super thick where you are) but if you have face masks (N95, KN95, etc) those can help a lot

Computer gaming has gone through some tough times. We’ve all been waiting for some signs of recovery.

@cooldowngames.bsky.social is a new game publisher with a refreshing new mission to curate games that “give a lot and only ask for a little.”

How do you tell if a celebrity account is actually the celebrity they propose to be? 🤔

Accounts are sus if they immediately DM me after a follow and ask how I’m doing using poor grammar or spelling.

Be careful when people you follow immediately reach out with DMs. I encountered my first info harvester on Bluesky. Their attempts to drill down into personal info was not subtle. But they couldn’t converse about current events, responding with generic factoids. #bots #security

Yessss… Priority one: Defining a practical scope for the #gamedev project.

Love this idea for how to visualize a game’s user interface/features and the underlying logic to support them.

— “Another way to think about it: Every time you add a new system for the player to interact with, it has to interface with all of the game’s existing systems…”
Yesterday I posted a #GameDev thread from @maxnichols.bsky.social that described a game’s possibility space as its “surface area.” I like this analogy because it more accurately describes a game’s scope. Let me explain in this thread 🧵, featuring #GameDesign, Will Wright, and #TheBlob.
