Kind of wild that this style of communication is the exception and not the normality. Also, great comms/social media team.

Can auto-generated "worlds" really be exciting?

Ah! Yes, let me have daily in-person meetings with my colleagues in Paris, Montpellier, Bucharest, Malmo, New Castle.. from my studio in Milan. Shall we meet halfway there for a coffee?

In a co-dev environment, I never had the whole team (or even half) in the same studio.

I guess we're cooking, but not games for once. The unions will be knocking.

Ubisoft launches voluntary redundancy process to cut 200 jobs from Paris head office
The process requires negotiation with trade unions, who have previously denounced the recently-announced restructuring proposal.

This.
6 game cancellations will mean many jobs lost in an already horrific market. Ubisoft cancelling 3 new IPs is especially heartbreaking: people are literally clamoring for something new instead of sequels on sequels. The workers at Ubisoft deserve better than this.
Ubisoft cancels Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake

"discontinued 6 games that do not meet the new enhanced quality as well as more selective portfolio prioritization criteria at Group level. These include [PoP] remake as well as 4 unannounced titles, including 3 new IP’s, and a mobile title"

A well needed timeline cleanser ♥️ I had no idea there was only one VA covering all character and thst he were Italian 😮
Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.

More than half a day tomorrow, we should rather coordinate across studios and do 2-3 whole days the next week.

That has an impact on a sprint, a milestone, a branch.
UBISOFT - Call for strike

Following the disastrous announcements made by Mr. Yves Guillemot (cost-cutting plan, projects scrapped, end of remote working, etc.), the Solidaires Informatique union is calling for a strike on Thursday, January 22, in the morning.

You have no idea how much I'm swearing right now.

Hey, I agree that as a consumer (and as a dev) I don't want AI slop. But it's weied coming from the same company now selling an AI companion waifu-husbando with hardware which is semi-preying on loneliness and other issues requiring professional support instead.
The boss of peripheral specialist Razer, Min-Liang Tan, has said consumers do not want "generative AI slop" but do want tools that help studios make good games.

Yes please! Finally some saying it out loud. It would be a good start.
Denmark’s AkademikerPension plans to sell all its US Treasuries this month, citing credit risks created by Trump’s policies. The $25B fund’s CIO said US finances are “unsustainable.” Other Danish pension funds have recently reduced exposure to US debt. #Economy
January 20, 2026 at 7:30 PM
How about:
- selling 10-15% of US debt owned by all EU countries, just to send a message.
- counter-tarrifs across the board.
- accelerating phasing out US products from all EU countries in public admin.
- Interrupt all investment in US military (and sales) to boost EU's?
In a letter to multiple European ambassadors today, President Trump says that because Norway failed to give him a Nobel Peace Prize, “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of peace”

The letter goes on to demand “complete and total control of Greenland.”
January 19, 2026 at 7:27 AM
Sounds like all countries should start selling some of those US bonds. Not sure how they would fare with all that debt.
Trump just placed a tariff on most of the EU of 10% that will increase to 25% in June unless they agree to sell him Greenland.

This is mad king shit.

Sooo, I'll just ask this openly? Who's next?

I hate getting emails of welcome here & there when there's new people in editorial/HQ but half of the time pretend nothing happens when people are let go. You call it restructuring instead of firing? Ok, still a conscious decision. Acknowledge it. Ffs
Ubisoft has confirmed the loss of 29 jobs at its Abu Dhabi mobile studio, in a restructuring that took place at the end of last year.

Again, why no molotovs? Or responding to fire?

For some reason this always comes to mind (the English page lacks soooo many details)

I'm not saying it's what they should do but, given the stage they are at, I am surprised people are not throwing molotovs at ICE cars on a regular basis.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Today starts my new weekly routines. 3d per week in office in Milan. An office 200km away from my home (that I own, not rent). That's 3.5h commute one way with car+train+subway at around 20€, double that with a return.

I mostly work with people in Sweden, UK, France, Romania, China.

This please. More unions, more worker protections.
They want you to see this and unionize less. You may be next, etc etc, the fear.
But the lesson must be: Unionize MORE. One team, one department, one studio protected? Shut down. *Every* studio protected? They can't shut them all down (without trashing the shareholder value, their only KPI).
infuriated on behalf of my union siblings in Halifax over this, even moreso after the absurdly long history of struggle in Canada trying to get a union going within Ubisoft.

I'm sure it will do well with marketing.
"Hey! why struggle at all? Just watch someone else play entirely!" how are those sales going now uh?

Even better, don't have any hobbies. You won't get stuck, you won't get frustrated with them and you'll save on money. Deal?
