Helping digital nomads beat loneliness, master work-life balance, and thrive on/offline ➡️ https://nerdontour.net
The best skill you can develop as a nomad is the ability to stay close to your friends and family while roaming the globe.

You can arrange regular interactions on/offline, send postcards and thoughtful gifts like fresh flowers from anywhere, and they keep the bonds strong.

3 common nomadic hurdles that got solved with tech:
Overpriced taxi → Affordable Uber/Grab
Dodgy local SIM shops → Reliable travel eSIM
Unfair currency exchanges → Low-fee Wise/Revolut

What does thriving as a digital nomad mean to you?

Your cash loses 3.6% to inflation yearly. Mine earns 3.5%+ in Revolut and Wise money market funds.

No lockups. Daily payouts. Instant access from my phone.

I convert EUR/PLN to USD, collect interest, and pay for everything without exchange markup. All while nomading.

Work-life balance means thriving offline as well as online.

Adaptability will take you further on your nomad journey.

Adapting how you communicate with locals. Staying calm during cancelled flights. Appreciating cultural customs without judgment.

Developing shapeshifting skills pays off.

Nomads don't stop traveling because it's boring.

They stop because they're lonely.

Make friends. Meet them regularly (in person & online). Keep nomading.

Housing crisis = flocking mindset

House prices rise due to high competition, bad policies, capital inequality among other things. Yet, the more location-independent you are, the better housing you can afford.

Modern Taiwan is like ancient Athens. The tech hub for democratic inventions. That's why I love to see how, this time, they inspire Germans. The goal is to introduce open-source innovations for the public. Much like the Gov Zero (g0v) did that in Taiwan.

Now ElevenLabs reads my blog posts out loud so you can listen while commuting, cooking, or traveling. Started with my iCloud Mail article and published it on the Nerd on Tour Podcast.

Real success in nomading comes from strategic laziness: knowing when to travel intensely and when to stay in one place for a month a do nothing.

if it costs your relationships
it's too expensive

Unpopular opinion: You can be nomadic and still love homey vibes like thick blankets and comfy slippers

Why do quick friendships feel hollow? Because there's no such thing as a quick friendship. We may feel kinship, be intrigued, and even spend the best evening with a newly met person. But real friendship needs time and repetition.

One cable to rule them all. After 2 years of testing across continents, the Rolling Square inCharge XL 6-in-1 still surprises me. Charges everything from MacBooks (100W!) to rechargeable AA batteries to old PS4 controllers.

It's not about being introverted or extroverted. We all strive for meaningful connections. Yet, only with self-awareness we can learn how such a connection looks like.

You're not weird for craving deeper connections as a nomad — you're human

Solo trip is not equal to being alone. The same as traveling in a group is not equal to being part of the community. Yet, reaching out and staying in touch guarantee good relationships.

Feeling lonely doesn't mean you chose the wrong nomadic lifestyle.

The medieval monks were in many ways similar to digital nomads. They were able to travel on long pilgrimages, visiting new countries, learning languages while carrying small bags. What kept them going was the support of strong community. Foster your nomad community, as they are your support.

Why do so many digital nomads, despite having great freedom, feel isolated?
