Isla's mother has been arrested under suspicion of causing her death from ME last year (heart failure). There was no inquest. Isla's younger sister (15), who also has ME, has been removed from the only people who understand how the disease must be managed. Imagine her fear.

I wish when politicians are asked “what is a woman” (I have the time Keir Starmer was asked) he’d replied “well, there are several factors depending on if you’re referring to someone’s sex or gender. Sex at birth isn’t a simple binary of male or female as intersex people exist. 1/>>

That Citizens Advice report on Labour's Disability #BenefitCuts Green Paper is titled *Pathways to Poverty*, is all you need to know about that Green Paper:

CAB sees it putting 400k people on a "Pathway to Poverty" instead of onto "Pathways to Work"

The only people who are predicted to get richer in the next 5 years are the richest 10%, who will add 1-2% a year, the richest 1% who will gain 3-4%, and the billionaires who will gain nearly 10% above inflation every year.

Everyone else will get poorer.

Sad to see so many preventable infections. In the UK we already have over 3 million with long covid. 1 in 10 people and every wave will mean a rise. Risk is cumulative.
What’s the new Covid variant spreading across the US?

What was that @wesstreeting.bsky.social said about over diagnosis & how young people can just go to pharmacies & PA’s, to keep GP appointments free for older ppl? #Misogyny & #ageism in healthcare is rife & bad policy ideas as above fuel & reinforce the ignorance & dismissal & THE HARM!
I’m so sick of these stories.

I’m exhausted, enraged & frustrated.

Misogyny in medicine kills. The patriarchy kills. The health gap kills.

We all have these stories. Some of us are lucky enough to survive, but many aren’t.

Tell your stories. Keep screaming until this never happens again:

i guarantee that all the "my mate Dave knows a guy whose nan's uncle's mate googled the symptoms of depression & gets £2k PIP a month" stories are false.

repeating them only perpetuates harmful misconceptions.

The other day I went to a talk about disability and tech/AI. I keep thinking how to talk about it without naming names - I do not want it to be about specific people, but about the approach itself.

Our teen, who is sometimes described as "nonverbal" (he's not) does not like assistive tech.
