Malaria and malnutrition are satisfactory explanations for DiseaseX in Panzi, Kwango province DR Congo. Nevertheless out of abundance of caution WHO will further test to spot any unknown patogens / diseases. But this looks like a low priority effort.
Further updates from the Africa CDC on the Mystery Malady in Panzi, Kwango Province, DRC. 32 deaths and 527 cases, with most cases and deaths in children. Testing so far has only identified existing concerns - malaria and malnutrition, but further testing needed to rule out novel infections.
