Jimin is about to thank Namjoon for dressing his wound when his stomach growls so loudly it practically echoes throughout the entire tent. “Hyung, will you…” Namjoon sighs as he turns to the dark-haired man who is already nodding. “Anything else?” “Clothes. Clean bandages. Whatever else I’m forgetting.” The dark-haired man snickers and winks and Jimin before leaving. “I’m sorry,” Namjoon murmurs, his thumb caressing the pulse point at Jimin’s wrist. “For leaving you alone all day without anything. I wasn’t thinking. It wasn’t until Yoongi pointed out over dinner that you likely hadn’t eaten today and were still in your torn robes…” Another sigh. “I’ve gone longer without a meal,” Jimin tries to reassure him. “And I’m not often in my robes anyway.” Namjoon narrows his eyes again, clearly displeased with his words. “Don’t do that. Don’t act like you can’t have needs just because of how others have treated you. You’re a human being, Jimin. The only reason I own you is because it is the best way to keep you safe here.” Namjoon’s eyes scan his face, falling to the diamond collar at Jimin’s throat. There’s a twitch in his jaw as he notices it. He lets Jimin’s wrist go and brings his hand to his neck, tugging at the collar lightly. There’s a little give, but not much. It’s enough to allow Namjoon to slip a finger in between the collar and Jimin’s throat, however. His finger twists and turns and then the collar is broken, the silver band broken and diamonds spilling among the broken glass at their feet. Jimin wants to ask how he broke a collar that was not meant to be broken. How he manage to spill the diamonds that had been set into the silver by an expert craftsman, but then Namjoon speaks again. “You are not a slave. Not in here. Not with me.” Namjoon lets Jimin’s wrist go and walks over to a large trunk, boots crunching on the broken glass and diamonds. He opens the lid and pulls out a long, black cloak. He shakes it out a bit and then returns to Jimin, wrapping it around his shoulders. “Yoongi will bring you clothes, but for now this will have to do. Now, go sit on a cushion while I clean this up.” There’s so much happening in such a short time again, and the whiplash of it all is even more dizzying. Will Namjoon get rid of him once they are back in his home city? Will he sell Jimin to another master? Namjoon only said he owns him because it keeps him safe among the soldiers. There’s too many unknowns in Jimin’s future and it’s frightening. He should be used to it, but the element of war and battle and death…it’s too much to think on. Jimin is already light headed from being hungry and thirsty, that he can’t help but default to what he knows best — appeasement. His new master (is Namjoon his master?) has shown him kindness and he must repay that. Must show that he is a good slave, one worthy of being kept. He doesn’t want to be sold again, at least not if Namjoon is as kind as he seems. “I can…” “I’m quite capable of cleaning up my own messes,” Namjoon interrupts, a hint of amusement playing across his features. He grins at Jimin as if there is a hidden joke that Jimin is not yet privy to, but all Jimin can focus on his how beautiful Namjoon is when he smiles. Dimples. His dragon has dimples.
