This Lunar New Year marks the Year of the Horse – a symbol of determination, growth, and resilience and an opportunity to push beyond our limits to see what’s possible and to keep moving forward, no matter what.

To all those celebrating across North Carolina, Happy Lunar New Year!

Civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson found a home at North Carolina A&T, where he launched his prolific career working to change this country for the better. To honor his life, let’s continue his work for justice and equality. May his memory be a blessing.

Feeling 22 this afternoon at Corner Kitchen in Asheville. Congratulations on 22 years of business!

It's always great to grab a meal there when we are in Biltmore Village and to see how businesses are recovering after Helene. WNC is open for business!

The need to produce more power and enhance the electrical grid for data centers should not come at the expense of North Carolinians’ access to safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable power.

In Woodfin, Hurricane Helene’s rains flooded homes, bridges, the recycling plant, and its largest employer Silver-Line. When the flooding finally receded, the river was left polluted.

Beech Mountain is the highest town in the eastern US – sitting at 5,506 feet above sea level. After tackling the tubing run, Anna and I enjoyed the stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the 5506 Skybar at the top.

Western NC’s ski resorts have it all – skiing, tubing, alpine coasters, sledding, and great food and music. Our ski industry supports about 2,000 jobs and generates nearly $250 million to our economy.

Sugar Mountain is NC’s largest winter resort – a great mountain for beginner and expert skiers alike – and the state’s only double black diamond slope. Have a great time while supporting WNC’s economy. You won’t regret it.

Back in the 1970s, I was one of the more than 1 million first-time skiers taught at Appalachian Ski Mountain’s French-Swiss Ski College. It is great to be back. Anna and I look forward to spending the weekend enjoying NC’s winter wonderland.

Yes, WNC is open for business!

We all want our kids to be safe, and the best way to protect our kids from measles is to make sure they are vaccinated.

There are currently 18 cases of measles in NC, all among people who are not fully vaccinated and overwhelmingly children.

In North Carolina, we know all too well the effects of climate change. The science is crystal clear, and this EPA decision makes us less safe. I promise to do everything in my power to protect people’s health and our state’s air, water, and natural beauty from carbon pollution.
EPA abandons the foundation of greenhouse gas rules
It's the Trump administration's most direct effort yet to rip out climate regulations root and branch.

One of the best ways to support students, businesses, and local economies across the state is to support more high-quality youth apprenticeships. This year, I am committing funds to support more high-quality youth apprenticeships through NC Career Launch.

Making sure people are prepared to thrive after they get out of prison makes it less likely that they repeat the behaviors that put them in prison in the first place.

We have seen a series of heartbreaking tragedies in recent months that are a consequence of people suffering from severe mental health crises. Improving behavioral health care and strengthening public safety are not competing goals. We can and must do better.

Read my op-ed in today's N&O:
Gov. Stein disagrees with his party’s denial of help to swing-voting lawmakers
N.C. Gov. Josh Stein disagrees with a state party move about legislative primaries, though he is getting involved in primaries through his endorsements.
