The first 100 Days of my administration... in numbers!
You might have seen reports and videos of houses on the Outer Banks collapsing into the ocean. We know that when these houses collapse, they don’t just represent a tragedy for the homeowners. The debris also spreads for miles and creates a threat to public safety on beaches.

In several of North Carolina’s rural counties, more than 50 percent of people get their health insurance through Medicaid. The General Assembly’s refusal to fully fund Medicaid will be felt throughout the state if providers are forced to close their doors. www.theassemblync.com/news/health/...
A Crisis for Rural Hospitals
North Carolina already reduced Medicaid reimbursement rates. Now hard-hit rural hospitals are now bracing for federal cuts.

North Carolinians need stability – to put food on the table, receive a paycheck, or travel home for the holidays – and I am pleased the government is back open.

As of today, North Carolina is the only state in the country without a budget.

The General Assembly needs to come back to Raleigh next week to fully fund Medicaid and then pass a budget that meaningfully invests in our people and our state.

Like all food banks across North Carolina, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves as a critical backstop preventing people from going hungry. It was a pleasure to spend part of Veterans Day volunteering in Raleigh with Lt. Governor Hunt.

Every veteran who calls North Carolina home is an essential part of the fabric of our state.

Happy Veterans Day, North Carolina!

Our veterans show us the true meaning of service. They put others before themselves and remind us of the power of honor, courage, and integrity.

This Veterans Day, and every day, I am grateful for their service and continued contributions to North Carolina.

NCServes is the first statewide coordinated care system in the country for veterans and their families.

Beginning tomorrow, NCServes will offer extended hours, including nights and weekends, to make sure veterans and their families can get support when they need it most.

We cannot give up the fight for people’s health care here in Raleigh or in Washington, D.C.

The General Assembly needs to fully fund Medicaid, and Congress needs to act to keep health care affordable.

North Carolina, please stay weather alert as snow and cooler temperatures arrive across the state - especially in the mountains.

Everyone deserves to be and to feel safe in their community.

I continue to call on the General Assembly to pass my comprehensive public safety package.

Earlier this month, we announced $18 million in grants and donations to help fight hunger across North Carolina. More organizations have stepped up to donate nearly $4 million more to make sure families can put food on the table.

My heart goes out to the family of Officer Roger Smith, who was killed protecting patients and their families. Law enforcement officers put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe, and we are forever grateful for Officer Smith’s sacrifice.

By supporting law enforcement and investing in mental health care and violence prevention initiatives, we can make communities across North Carolina safer while ensuring people get the help they need, when they need it.

This morning most North Carolina SNAP beneficiaries saw partial payments on their EBT cards, and I am grateful to NCDHHS for working quickly to get the rest of November's payments out the door as soon as this weekend. We will keep working to make sure families can put food on the table this month.
November 7, 2025 at 9:57 PM
North Carolina’s law enforcement personnel, teachers, and public employees deserve to be paid, and Medicaid needs to be funded. The General Assembly needs to do its job and pass a budget.
November 7, 2025 at 4:13 PM
North Carolinians are facing a health care crisis because the legislature has not adequately funded Medicaid. That’s why I’m calling an extra session for the General Assembly to get back to work and fund North Carolina’s Medicaid program.

North Carolina is facing a health care crisis, and WakeMed’s new Whole Health Campus couldn’t come at a better time. We need real investment in mental health to keep people safe and healthy. Facilities like these across the state will help us achieve that goal.
