For #digitalArtHistory fellows looking at ways to study #art #circulation we just published "Greater Aura? The 19th and 20th Century Circulation of Art Reproductions in the Press through a Digital and Historical Perspective". We analyzed which images circulated internationally between the 1880-1960.

this 👇 love the format (I should probably start doing it myself too)
I wish people would post more links to interesting things

I feel like Twitter and LinkedIn and Instagram and TikTok have pushed a lot of people out of the habit of doing that, by penalizing shared links in the various "algorithms"

Bluesky doesn't have that misfeature, thankfully!

And we are thrilled to be able to count with you both in Lisbon at NOVA FCSH! It's going to be an amazing DH2025! 🥳
I'm still in disbelief, as there are so many far more accomplished colleagues. I've been invited to be one of the keynote speakers at DH2025 in Lisbon, alongside @roopikarisam.bsky.social, with whom I co-authored an essay forthcoming in the JAS.
Javier Cha and Roopika Risam will be the keynote speakers of @ADHOrg #DH2025.

I am, incidentally, pretty drunk rn (the job is 24/7!!!). This is the most Korean thing I've ever done.

The iconography of the car in its early days is particularly interesting. If written sources tell us a lot about the protest against motorists, images tell us something different. By collecting and extracting images from the press, it is easy to notice the preponderance of positive representations
100 years ago tomorrow.

New York Times, November 23, 1924: “The automobile looms up as a far more destructive piece of mechanism than the machine gun. The reckless motorist deals more death than the artilleryman. … Immediate action [is necessary] to halt the homicidal orgy of the automobile.”
