What reason could Nintendo, Koei Tecmo, and the Pokemon Company possibly have for making Pokopia a game-key card release, especially when the download size is 10 GB?!?

I was laughing at the first few seconds of the opening sequence to The Rifleman, because let's face it - does the way the main character is holding and firing his gun remind you of anything?

I got an important event in television history on video. I was going to anyway, but someone in a Discord server I'm in requested it.

Upon seeing what's happening at CBS/Paramount and comparing it to some of the stuff coming out of Warner Bros this year (Superman, that one Absolute Batman comic), I think it's pretty clear why the latter doesn't want to be bought by the former. Major strategic misalignment there.

So… apparently the release date for the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Blu-ray got pushed back to March 24. It was originally slated for December 2.

My local GameStop ran out of the codes - AGAIN - yesterday.
Nintendo/TPC's decision to limit GameStop to 50 codes per store, for seemingly no reason, is leaving them unable to keep up with demand and is ultimately what's thrusting this distribution into "unmitigated disaster" territory.

Especially since they had so little confidence in K-Pop Demon Hunters that they sold it to Netflix... and then it became the most successful movie Netflix ever marketed as an original.

I can only hope Sony Pictures executives are kicking themselves over that one.
Sony Pictures Animation is a great studio full of talented creatives, yet the company its named after constantly underestimates their ideas outside of anything Spidey-related, despite the proven success of certain original movies.

Someone please get those people better bosses.

So the Trump administration and the far-right honoring Charlie Kirk and pissing their pants over anyone and everyone who criticizes him is pretty much the result of major and irreconcilable conflicts of interest. Got it.

I'm sorry @aclu.org, but the speech espoused by the KKK and Nazis is the kind of speech that should NOT be protected by the First Amendment, because it's speech that's aimed at the destruction of the rights of marginalized people.

And no, I will not debate this.

so there’s nothing factually wrong with this statement, since day 1 they’ve been clear about this philosophy

where the issue arises is when you use this as a response to widespread criticism. this is passing the buck with technical correctness rather than taking responsibility which is a Bad Look
We knew from the start we can’t get everything right. Moderation is a hard problem, and it’s impossible to please everyone. So we built a protocol where you always have the right to leave. If you don’t trust us, or don’t like our decisions, you deserve the right to choose an alternative.

Here's the registrar information for that "Expose Charlie's Murderers" website.

Email or call them and tell them to shut it down.

I think the whole Charlie Kirk situation highlights a fundamental problem with the United States: that its interpretation of "free speech" is "I should be able to say whatever the hell I want without consequence".

Currently trying to think about potential licensors Discotek could get cartoon licenses from.

Invincible doesn't have very many licenses they'd be interested in left... we don't know how much Piko has... and all the Capcom cartoons there are have been licensed.

The DMCA needs to be amended so that all copyright claims are filed under oath.

Seems like the best option, to consider all false copyright claims a form of perjury.

@oweeeeendennis.bsky.social Can you confirm or deny these? I saw them posted by one of those cartoon news accounts that have a lot of clout, but they didn't provide any sources.

So I just found out that Kotora and Raitora are the only completely scrapped Pokemon (apart from the Fire and Water starters) from the Gen II SpaceWorld '97 demo to warrant a mention on Bulbapedia's list of unused Pokemon. Perhaps because pretty much everyone went nuts over them.

Stripe crossed a line now.

Call up whatever local LGBT organizations exist in your area, gay activist groups, gay bars, pride organizing committees, folks who schedule drag shows, queer church groups, everyone.

Also libraries and bookstores.

Show up in person to talk to any business using Stripe.
Same during my call- the wording I used was “non-explicit, legal, non-adult LGBT content”, and I got back the response that “yes, stripe is blocking this. We’re a private company, we make our own rules about it.” Was hung up on when I asked why.

I know from experience that machine learning has a lot of potential for useful stuff, I just think LLMs are mostly a silly novelty and I don't think you should outsource your thinking to them, because I don't get the point of existing without thinking.
