Found my love for trail running with the 5 Peaks Trail Running Series! ⛰️ Signed up for all 5 races in 2024 knowing no one, and found my community. I'm not fast, but I crushed my PB on all 5 races this past season! Thrilled to announce I'm a 5 Peaks Ambassador for 2026!

Aurora color guide! What creates the different shades?

Different atoms getting "excited" at different altitudes

The bright reds are a sign of a particularly intense event

It took awhile but I finally finished the blog post about my FIRST solo mountain backpacking trip from July 2024. Give it a read! Has anyone else done Egypt Lake in Banff National Park? An absolutely beautiful area!
Egypt Lake
Me at Egypt Lake on Day 2 Distance: 32.42 km Elevation Gain: 1,494 m Total Time: 10 hours 24 mins In July 2024 I set off on backpacking trip in Banff National Park. The goal was to camp at Egypt Lake for 2 nights. I had been looking for a trip that would take me two days and would provide beautiful views.

Haven't done this in a LONG time! The truck is getting her winter tires put on so I had some time to myself. Went for a beautiful walk first. Now I'm working on some blog posts I'm VERY behind on in Starbucks.
What a lovely morning.

Can't run quite yet - sprained ankle is not 100% healed. But I joined the Edmonton Trail Sisters tonight and walked with these two lovely ladies. Great conversation, beautiful evening, and the ankle held up ok!

Winter prep done! Laid down an inch of leaves on the garden beds for soil protection, bug habitat, and rich nutrients come spring. Free mulch from my parents' yard! Thanks @robin6-64.bsky.social! 🍂

Watching Lost Cities with Albert Lin. Absolutely inspiring explorer!
Makes me wonder about GIS and LiDAR technology. How can these techs help our ever changing landscape? How can I learn more? Is this a curiosity that I should find out more about?
So many questions. Great job National Geographic!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm grateful for the quiet moments in nature that remind me to breathe, slow down, and stay grounded. The changing leaves, crisp air, and stillness of the outdoors are gentle reminders that tranquility lives in the little things. Wishing you warmth and a little calm today.

Alberta’s teachers are on strike. This historic action is about more than teachers—it’s about every student and the future of public education.

Today is #WorldTeacherDay and I'm at a rally getting ready to strike tomorrow.
Alberta students deserve better. Underfunded classrooms hurt everyone.

Friday will be the first day of Autumn with more nighttime hours than daylight hours.

The equinox was Monday...but today (Sep 25) is the day with 12h day & 12h night. (at our latitude - it's always offset a few days - for a number of reasons). #yegwx

Do you have a student in the Alberta public education system?
Curious to know how many more teachers YOUR school would have if per student funding was the same as Saskatchewan, Manitoba or even the Canadian average?

The Alberta Teachers' Association has officially filed strike notice. Unless a negotiated settlement can be reached at the bargaining table, teachers will be on strike beginning October 6.

I did a lot more walking on this trail run than I expected. I was having a hard time keeping my heart rate low enough. But it was such a nice way to spend the morning with Kira - we both really needed the "wildfire smoke free" time outside!

Teachers: we really need supports for complex needs in classrooms, lower class sizes, better working conditions, and appropriate funding

My #TrailRun in #DinosaurProvincialPark was next level! I tackled a 10km loop so I could wander through towering rock formations, spot desert plants clinging to life, and imagine the prehistoric world that once roamed here. Hot sun, dusty trails, endless views. 10/10 would recommend. #ExploreAlberta

Another great #TrailRunning race with 5 Peaks this morning! Chickakoo Recreation Area is a great spot to run. Lots of hills, cloudy, and not much mud. I beat last year's time by 6 minutes!

5 Peaks #TrailRunning race today in GoldBar #YEG.
The past 24 hours of rain meant they had to reroute the course to protect the single track trail - very happy they made that call.
Thought I was going pretty slow but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw my end time!
