Snowdrops Galanthus elwesii dancing across the page. Their glaucous leaves protecting them from excess moisture. Work in progress, gouache on toned paper.

Thanks for the fantastic response to my first post of Devil's fingers. Here's one of my recent pen and ink illustrations. Another fascination of mine, galls, especially those found on Quercus species

As the season of giving approaches, may I suggest to all parents and grandparents that they give their budding little scientists the best gift of all - a x10 hand lens. I got my first one when I was around ten years old and it opened up a whole world of wonder. It's a weapon of mass education...

Such a beautiful painting. Always nice to see your posts Brigit, highlighting the work of artists
Curlew - by another Scottish artist, Lucy Newton

I could look at this painting all day and not tire of it.

A peek into plant research with a fellow botanical artist.
Film explaining how I research the plants I'm asked to illustrate. In some cases (like with this #yarrow #achilleamillefolium) the plant is still around, so I have the luxury of doing a drawing from life. But #botanicalillustration isn't only done during the flowering season! Its year round! 🐡 #sciart

Here is a painting of mine that was 2-3 years in the making, from fieldwork to finished piece. Now in New York at the botanical gardens in the 'Curious Allies' exhibition with the ASBA. Devil's fingers Clathrus archeri

Seasonal beauty
Horse Chestnut
Here’s a study in ink & charcoal egg tempera of Chestnut leaves & a conker. Although ‘non-native’ to Ireland (origins considered to be from the Balkans) the beautiful Horse Chestnuts line the banks of the River Nore & mark the change of season.
