New York was the first state to ban cat declawing—an effort spearheaded by my friend, @lindabrosenthal.bsky.social.

Today, I'm proud to introduce a resolution opposing the inhumane and unnecessary practice of elective cat declawing nationwide. 🐈

Congratulations to @MTA for receiving the TSA Gold Standard Award for Excellence in Transit Security.

This near-perfect score reflects the hard work and dedication of the transit employees who keep the largest transit system in America running every day.

This announcement is a great step in tackling the affordability crisis and will provide much-needed relief to families across New York. Universal childcare creates family and economic stability and allows parents to pursue careers.

It has been an honor to serve alongside @hoyer.house.gov. He has dedicated his life to public service and I was proud to work with him on so many major pieces of legislation, including the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008.

Five years ago today, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to attack the United States Capitol in a direct attempt to overturn a free and fair election.

One year later and it's clear congestion pricing is working and making New York better.

There's less traffic, safer streets, cleaner air, and major investments in public transit.

I’m proud to have fought to make this a reality for decades and New Yorkers are seeing the benefits every day.

This year, my office sent over 70,000 letters to constituents and I cosponsored over 300 pieces of legislation.

ALL of the Epstein files are required by law to be released TODAY.

Trump's refusal to release the full Epstein files today is simply a continuation of the White House coverup.

Americans deserve the truth. The victims and survivors deserve justice. Release the files.

Trump’s push to reschedule is not enough, we must federally decriminalize marijuana.

That’s why I reintroduced the MORE Act months ago.

Federal laws must remedy the patchwork of state laws, recognize growing public support, and reverse failed policies criminalizing marijuana.
Breaking news: President Trump is expected to push the government to significantly ease federal marijuana restrictions, treating the plant and its derivatives like common prescription painkillers and other drugs.
Trump seeks to cut restrictions on marijuana through planned order
The president is expected to attempt to classify marijuana similar to some common prescription painkillers and other drugs.

Every House Democrat has signed a discharge petition to extend ACA health care tax credits for three years.

We need just four Republicans to stand up and join us.

It's time to help Americans and stop premiums from skyrocketing.

It's disgusting the President spews racist and vile attacks against Somali Americans and our colleague @repilhan.bsky.social.

Trump's hateful attempt to demonize immigrants targets our neighbors and makes us all unsafe.

I am proud to stand with immigrants today and everyday.
Trump disparages Somali immigrants for the second straight day, saying they've 'destroyed our country'
The president also continued his verbal attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., saying the first Somali American elected to Congress "shouldn’t be allowed to be a congresswoman."

Trump and Speaker Johnson spent months doing everything in their power to block the Epstein files bill from coming to the floor.

It just passed the House 427–1 after Trump finally realized the American people won’t stand for his cover-up.

@lindabrosenthal.bsky.social, @bradhoylmansigal.bsky.social, and I are calling on NYCEDC to pause the Manhattan Cruise Terminal masterplan.

There hasn't been sufficient stakeholder and community involvement to move forward with the plan, and we must include the incoming Mayoral Administration.

Tonight I proudly voted NO on the Republicans’ funding bill.

Trump and House Republicans have abandoned Americans — allowing health care costs to increase, Trump to do what he wishes with Congressionally appropriated funds, and GOP Senators to receive taxpayer-funded kickbacks.

I am profoundly disappointed by New York State’s decision to approve the NESE fracked-gas pipeline.

It disregards science, public opposition, and New York’s own climate goals.

At day 36, today marks the longest government shutdown in history.

ACA health care premiums are doubling and our most vulnerable are going hungry without SNAP benefits.

Speaker Johnson and Republicans need to come to the negotiating table and end the shutdown now.
November 5, 2025 at 7:43 PM
ACA open enrollment began today and health insurance premiums will rise 114%.

32 days into the government shutdown and 43 days since Republicans were last working in Washington.

Republicans’ refusal to negotiate will cause millions of Americans to lose their health coverage.

Thank you, @newyorkstateag.bsky.social, for standing up to Trump & protecting the millions of Americans who rely on SNAP to put food on the table.

It’s disgraceful that Trump, with the support of Congressional Republicans, chose to starve veterans, seniors, & children as a political weapon.
In a major victory, a court ruled the Trump administration must use emergency funds to provide food stamps to Americans.

No one should choose between paying bills and buying groceries.

We'll continue our lawsuit to fight for our families and the services they deserve.

Speaker Johnson has dismissed the expiring ACA subsidies as a “Dec. 31 issue,” and for 10 months he’s refused to act, despite Democrats demanding that he protect Americans’ coverage.
October 30, 2025 at 6:19 PM
The Trump Administration has the power to fund SNAP in November, but is refusing to use it, choosing instead to starve seniors, veterans, and children.

I proudly joined my New York colleagues in urging USDA to exercise its legal authority and ensure SNAP benefits are funded.
In 2 days, Donald Trump will cut off SNAP benefits for more than 3 million New Yorkers. Not because the USDA doesn't have the money, but because he thinks starving people helps him politically.

@reprileyny.bsky.social and I led a letter demanding that Trump reverse course and fund SNAP now.
